Well, this afternoon was unexpectedly lovely. My paper went off without a hitch and I read it VERY well, if I do say so myself. I was sad there weren't more people there who were interested in my topic, but that's prob b/c I presented in the women's studies area instead of the fanfiction area. If I do this conference again I'll know better.

Anyway, I ended up chatting with one of the panel attendees afterwards, and we went into the dinner together and sat with somebody who's studying fandom on Tumblr. The three of us ended up sitting there and fangirling. The dinner ended at 8:30, it's a quarter after nine and we JUST broke up and headed to our rooms. We were the last ones out of the dining room. It's particularly nice, because I felt like I wasn't doing a lot of networking at this conf. But the three of us talked about EVERYTHING. You name it, we discussed it. We were still squeezing in a few more sentences as we were parting in the elevator.

I also got to see Meg O today, for the first time in four years. Neither of us could believe that it has been the length of college... since we were IN college. Crazy. Also crazy was driving in Pittsburgh today--yes, I did it again. Meg was in the front seat navigating, so altho we took some wrong turns, it wasn't eally stressful. There were a bunch of us (her and I and four of her friends) going to a restaurant on the other side of the river, so we had to take two cars.

Tomorrow three of my profs from Wilson will also be there (Corny, Larry, and Elia, for those in the know). Excelente. I also get to sleep in because I'm not going to the first scheduled panel. So maybe that'll make up for my approx 4.5 hrs of sleep last night. lol Funny enough, I'm not really tired. It's all the excitement. I'm really happy that even though I'll be driving back to Ohio late tomorrow night, I get an extra hour before Sunday because of daylight savings time. lol I'm already planning to probably skip church in order to catch up on sleep. I also need to go grocery shopping when I get back. And I need to get gas before I get very far tomorrow, but I'm not going to start looking for a gas station until I get out of the city. I still have almost half a tank, so it shouldn't be a problem.
