I have just submitted a novel manuscript to a publisher for the very first time. Squee! I am, of course, expecting quite a number of rejection slips before anything gets picked up, but here's hoping, anyway, and I'm excited to finally be getting started.
I submitted Blue Feathers to
Brighter Books Publishing House, which is a Canadian publishing house that is specifically looking for young adult fantasy/sci-fi. Their submission guidelines for YA fantasy crack me up: If you are sending us a vampire story, please make sure it is strong and different enough to have a chance in the current avalanche of blood-sucking critters out there. Please no weak female characters, and minimal brooding and whining. Nice to know they have a sense of humor. :P
I'm so excited!
