I'm riding home from Dallas to Boston on the plane... and it's gonna be a nice and long flight...
Jeff's in the seat in front of me, but there's nobody I know at all around... the Cromers, the Hehirs, and Agnes are all in the way front... but they're still scattered all over the place. Crazy.
Wanna talk about crazy? This trip has been crazy... I have had a great time though. It's been like, life changing. I met Olympic divers and got pictures taken with them. Better yet I CUT Kimiko Soldati on three meter. It was so funny. She's like the best springboard diver in the country and she had just arrived to the meet, and I was on three meter warming up and I just hopped on the board at the same time she did, and we were both like "Oh, sorry... whoops" and then she let me do my ugly dive. Haha I wish I had done a good one for her... but whatever. Also, I dove agaist people that are going to Olympic trials, and probably will be olympians in 2008 and 2012. Mainly Jonathan Wilcox and JJ Kinzbach, they're crazy and insane and all that stuff. I have so many videos to show all of you. Jeff and I got a picture done with Laura Wilkinson, and she's the Olympic champion on platform from 2000. Yes, I know... insane.
Who knew I could have amounted to this much in anything? I guess this whole diving thing has been my calling. I have just been nonstop insane all the time, and I just want to keep getting better. I am really on the right track, too. I bet you all are dying to know how I did in the meet... so here goes:
1 Meter (Saturday Morning):
AMAZING
Front Two and a Half Tuck: I had a really good hurdle and ripped the entry, completely vertical. 6.5s!
Back One and a Half Pike: Good start, came out too early and went almost painfully short. 3.5s :(
Reverse One and a Half Tuck: I had warmed this dive up 10 times just so I could nail it in the meet, and I did... nothing lower than a 6, mainly 6.5s!!!
Inward One and a Half Pike: I was going to do it tuck cause I suck at inwards, but I figured I'd chuck the harder dives for this meet, and it worked... this dive gave me 5.5s and 6s, even though it was slow... i got mad height.
Back flip 2.5 twists: My signature dive... i got two sixes on it, and two 4.5s, and a 5.5... thats cause feet first entries are hard to score.
Back 1.5 flips 1.5 twists: its hard to do but i managed... and got around 5's. entry was a rip, but i lost my feet as usual... so it brought a 4.5 or two as well.
Back flip 1.5 twists: can't get enough of those back twisters! this one was a little disappointing, but I still got 4.5s and 5s, and i need to relearn front twisters because i can't do more than one feet first entry if i want to compete with the best... even though i managed in this meet.
Front One and a Half Pike: I'm normally god-awful at this dive... but in the meet it was great... i went a bit over, but had a top that brought me 6s anyway.
Back dive pike: I have been training this dive for 8's, and am capable of it, but i didn't pull it off because I had a bad start, and washed over a teeny bit. still, the entry was PREETTTTY clean and I got 6's.
Reverse Dive Pike: I came a long way with this dive, and I did it in the meet for 5.5's and 6's even though i had a bad hurdle.
Inward Dive Pike: I never have scored above a four on this in a meet (with the exception of new englands this year) but i did this time, and ended up with 6s... good top, good entry... a little out.
All this got me TENTH PLACE. If you don't understand my mood by my caps it means that I did really really well. I was in 7th for most of the meet, too... that's how great it was. I beat the person who won three meter at regionals this year (he got eleventh just two points behind me)... where I got tenth place. Also, I was beating JJ Kinzbach after the first 5 optionals, and he won three meter at this invitational... and is an olympic hopeful.
Three meter didn't go as well, so I will be mainly brief. I failed reverse 2.5 flips because i had a terrible hurdle, but i still pulled off a great meet other than that and my back 2.5 flips which brought nothing above a 3. It was pretttty cool... I started off with an excellent front 2.5 pike that scored 6.5s, and sat in fifth after the first round... but the gainer hurt me, and so i finished in 15th... which is not bad for having a failed dive. I did a buncha requireds for 6s, and I also did a bunch of optionals for high scores. It was a good experience... that's all I have to say about three meter!
I did a little bit of tower, too... I did armstands off 7.5 meter and 1.5 Pikes and stuff... it was all fun and games though.
Reacquainted myself with Keely Brooks and Julie Brummond... nice people i met in kentucky.
Met new friends... Samantha Holland (the future godmother of my kids), kyle mitrione, cassidy lynch, david novak, brian miller among others i have already forgotten... haha
Talked to Laura Wilkinson... haha I still can't believe it... it's amazing
SHE WON THE OLYMPICS... that means something BIG... lol
Jeff and I had fun wandering the hotel property, and we basically didn't do anything... lol... besides get ice cream from baskin robbins, stock up on food supplies from randalls, and just chillin with Tom, Kristin, and Amanda c. by the pool... WATERSLIDE WAS FUN
Beautiful hotel... everything's bigger in texas... and I wish I could do it all over again. But I can go back to practice and sport my speedo tan (you know you want me) and basically just say that I mingled with the best... and tried to compete with them... in texas. Texas. Texas. Yes... Texas.
I missed amanda more than anything... and I can't wait to spend some time with her this weekend. She is everything... and I wish she came down with me... we would have had an amazing time... I know it. congrats to her on her horse show too! i dont have to go anywhere until north carolina next month... so we get all ... three weeks... together... (Still not enough time... I could spend an eternity with her, you dont understand.)
See y'all at school in the morning... i'll be the sunburnt one wearing the texas shirt... haha
