I had a lonesome day on Christmas, considering I was surrounded by people the entire day.
It was a sea day, no escape from the kids. This cruise, I love my group of kids. Mostly girls, age 9-11, very loving and kind to each other, loads of them making friends, all shapes and sizes. Very accepting of each other. They love me.
I wore my elf suit proudly, collected wrapping paper from the presents the ship provided to each and every kid, "oh, may I please have that? Elves LOVE colored paper!! Thank you and Merry Christmas!!" Better than, "hey, got any trash?"
Worked more than 10 hrs, but what the heck else is there to do here?
Checked my email about a zillion times and was gifted with several lovely messages by evening that eased the loneliness.
There are 5 count 'em FIVE sea days on this cruise of 350 kids. Rather torturous. We pull into Colombia tomorrow, Cartegena, my first actual setting of foot on the South American continent (I don't count the islands I've been on near Venzuala -- they're islands after all.)
Not much time, a few hours, but we're docked so I should be able to manage a short escape.
