So yeah, it's pretty much undeniable that all I've done on this LJ this month is write MICF reviews. (And write up D&D sessions a couple of times, but let's gloss over that.) There are two good reasons for that:
1 - I've seen a lot of shows and would like to talk about them.
2 - I don't really have much else to talk about right now.

Most of the The Herald Sun reviews you linked to don't seem to count as reviews as much as snippets. They're rather poorly written and not very informative. I usually read reviews written by people I know rather than by journalists as I find them more honest and I can gauge whether I might like the show by knowing where our interests match up. I also often like to see shows without reading any reviews because I'd rather have it unfold before me without any prior knowledge.

Honestly, if I'm looking for reviews of things these days, I'm likely to turn to my peers on Twitter, LJ/Dreamwidth, or various blogs; I fundamentally distrust most mainstream media (uh-oh, break out the tin hats...) and generally social media reviews tend to address the things I want to know* about a book/movie/game/whatever.
* which generally boils down to "is the explosions-to-misogyny ratio tolerable?"
