Developer's Log 9

It has officially been a week since the Super Pack was released.

I only mention this because this marks the end of the beta test period. I shall soon give the Super Pack its first update with some of the minor bugs that have been reported. I was hoping for more people to play it but it hasn’t been advertised that well. Once those fixes have been made I may make its release more apparent.

Arc III is progressing faster than ever and is almost at the half way mark in terms of content. After that is done (somewhere around Halloween) focus shall move towards adding new features to the battle system and completing the new art work. I wouldn’t expect this to be done until somewhere around Thanksgiving (seems like we were working around the Holidays).

Now that Eagle Path (the first dungeon in arc III) nears completion I look back and wonder if I achieved my goal with it. Whenever I complete a dungeon I like to see if it shaped into the vision I had for it. Most of the time they are close enough to satisfy me but with this dungeon I am still not feeling it. It also doesn’t help that I have the idea that every one of my dungeons will be better than my last. The mines dungeon took so much of my time that I had to ask Volrath to complete the mansion dungeon (which he did spectacularly). It is a hard dungeon to compete with (it took three editions before I got it right). Hopefully after I complete the next dungeon I will have time to come back and rethink some aspects of it.

I have gained a lot of perspective on how long this project shall take over the last few days. What started out as something I thought would be done in a year quickly turned into something that would be done before graduation (next year). Now I don’t expect it to be done until beyond that. This doesn’t weight on me too heavily though. I plan to work on this project as long as it takes and with all the other things going on in my life (and my team’s) it could be another two years. And who knows what will happen when it is done. The only reality is that it will be finished.
