I feel like Helen is massively out of character. Really seriously she just sits and watches terrible things happen? That's absolutely the antithesis of everything we've ever known about her. She just lets millions of people die "because they're supposed to?" She's completely passive for a hundred years? I either can't buy it, or I hate her.
Nikola's the only one who's actually doing something, taking action and trying.
But again there's something strange. In Resistance, Nikola is Normandy!Nikola. This is Tesla before the war, even doing the same experiments. It doesn't feel like this is Nikola from Awakening, but Nikola from Normandy. So it makes sense to me -- what if this is Nikola as she remembers him, only transposed into a modern setting? This is Normandy!Nikola. Chimera is real Nikola.
I really like Nikola, and he's been the only good thing this season since Tempus. But it's not enough. That's just not carrying the show for me. Chimera was fun, but it's just not enough.
And all these retreads. The Depths was Requiem and Next Tuesday all over again. I don't feel like we're learning anything new about these characters.
Yes, an excellent premise but now they don't know how to stick it. And they honestly don't know what to do with Helen other than have more terrible things happen to her. Ok, they've killed Ashley, James and John. Now they've destroyed her life's work. And so what they have is a main character who is depressed, detached, and downright mean. Will is right. But then Helen has absolutely nothing to live for. If they want her to remain as a main character, they have to give her something happy, something to care about, something to be invested in. Once you've removed everything the main character cares about, there's no reason for them to be in the story.
Well, happy endings are girly or something! After all, only dumb romance books read by dumb, lower class women have people actually get together and be happy! /end rant.
