A fluffy, fluffy ficlet on a rainy day! This one is for
shadadukal, as it kind of goes with her stories in a way....
Will wasn't sure exactly when it happened. Sometime after they got rid of the energy creature and all the fallout from that. Sometime after round two of Hollow Earth. Sometime after Tesla bailed them out of a disaster, rather than the other way around. There it was. She might have been wearing it for weeks when he noticed it, or it might have been a couple of hours, but there it was on Magnus' finger, the old fashioned pavé ruby and diamond ring, just lurking there.
And there it stayed for the next eight years.
Nobody said anything about it, not to Magnus' face. Will figured it wasn't his business. Kate had a lot to say to Will, but she didn't see much point in anything else. Tesla must have seen it, but whatever he said was behind closed doors as he came and went like a stray cat.
Not that Druitt was there all the time either. He was in and out, more often in than out as the years went on. It took eight years for Will to mention it, and only because it was right there in front of him at a moment when nothing terrible was happening for a change.
"What's with the, um…." He gestured at the ring.
He could have sworn Magnus turned pink, at least a little. "Oh, that?" she asked, glancing down as though she had no idea how it had gotten on her hand.
"She believes in long engagements," Druitt said from across the room. "Wouldn't want to rush into anything."
