This weekend included my birthday, and to celebrate being 23 years young I clearly had to do something fabulous.
Of course, with the Michigan OSU game occuring on my birthday I had to attend (But, its not like I would miss it one way or another). Weifei and myself attended the cold and windy game. We both froze our asses off, even though Weifei was constantly bobbing up and down. We also had the misfortune of having seats right behind someone who must have been at least 6 foot 6 six (he was taller than me standing one row in front of me). Furthermore because of my masterful skills in maneuvering to our seats we apparently missed a pre-game scuffle between the teams.
The game itself was only interesting for the first half. Michigan's defense put in a good effort given how little time their offense spent on the field, but after Chris Well's second touchdown run it was more or less over; it only seemed close. Really though, its hard to complain, I have seen a lot of history for my time at the school (I have witnessed all the home games in the 5 record 5 straight OSU victories and I had tickets to the 1-2 showdown in 2006, one of the best games likely played in the 100 plus year history of this rivalry).
Oh, and was there food. Friday night I went over to Anna's apartment and we cooked up a storm. We made bubble tea, though I think I still need to work out a few more kinks to perfect it. Our fruit salad had strawberries, cantaloupe, grapes, apples, watermelon and hot fudge for dipping. Anna throw together a mango salsa to die for. As I recall it was a mango, a tomato, cilantro, part of a jalapeño pepper, and red onion. Furthermore there were crescent rolls filled with American Cheese and Ham or Swiss Cheese and Tuna (For our favorite Muslim - Hina!). Jing-Jing brought an apple pie after the game, Michaela had a side of vegetables and dip, Weifei the alcohol, and Hina the chips. Since Weifei and I were freezing and hungry after the game (and it was on the way) we stopped at my place to get hot chocolate to bring to the party in addition to making grilled cheese and clam chowder soup to feed ourselves.
After some planning, around 7 pm we left Anna's place to go nap. Why? But to go dancing of course! We headed out to Brother's around 11 pm, but we didn't all arrive until about 11:30. Hina and I were the drivers. As I recall the group included Weifei, Anna, Hina, Ashley, Michaela, Jing-Jing, Chris, Carlos, Nick, and myself. There was dancing and chicanery! I was amused (and distracted) that the club had Boondock Saints on in the background (no sound of course).
But, overall, it is one of the better birthdays I have ever had.
Thank you everyone!
Later.
