Today, driving Tatiana home from school after playing with (my new friend - YAY!) Christine and her two daughters Kelsey and Lauren for an hour, Tatiana found a greeting card in the car.
I had meant to post about it the day I found it oh-so-serindipitously in the parking lot of a strip mall. Tatiana and I had stopped for lunch after bringing Ethan to the hospital several weeks ago, before the holidays. Walking back to the car, I spotted a greeting card on the ground just a few feet away from my car. I picked it up, curious of course to see what it said. There was no envelope, and it was in perfect condition as if it had been dropped there a few minutes before we exited the restaurant.
On the front of the card is a black and white picture - late 1800's style - of two women sitting together, one woman with her arm around the shoulder of the other, both smiling. The first woman is saying to the other, "You're intelligent..and a fabulous shopper. Your turn." The other woman replies, "You're sensitive, a good listener..and you dress well. Your turn." When you open the card, the same picture is printed on the right side of the card and the dialogue continues with the first woman saying, "You have a beautiful body, a positive attitude, and a great personality. Your turn." and the other woman replying, "You have lovely skin, you're generous..and nice to be with. Your turn." Below the picture it says, "We turn to each other for a lift, a laugh, and to remind us how really great we are!"
Now here's the serindipitous part. On the left side of the interior of the card, dated December '04 are the hand written words,
"Jen-
I just love you so much! What a precious friend you are!
-K."
I couldn't help but feel like this card was a message from the universe, gifted to me on a particularly bad day. Thanks to all of my friends, both new and established, who continue to uplift me whenever I am in their presence (or cyber presence :) and who not only validate and accept me fully, but who are equally comfortable calling me on my shit when the need arises. (You know who you are! ;)
