Here in Olympia

Yes indeed. I'm a big fat faggot who didn't say goodbye to anyone but Andy and the kids. I just kinda bailed. I guess 21 years of waiting to get the fuck out of Phoenix combined with my inherent impulsivity makes for..... well, let's just say I was really shitty with the 'goodbye's'. I don't think of myself as totally gone, though. The kids are there, and I'll be back to visit. It's more like having 2 homes right now, at least that's how it feels.

I left at 12:30 AM Monday morning hoping to beat rush hour traffic through LA and drove the 1,450+ miles straight through (only stopping for gas and a couple of times to pee) in a grand total of 21 hours. Yes indeed, I'm a rock star!

So, here I am at the college, just having seen my advisor, left to figure out my educational path. I know what I want to do and where I want to be at the end of this journey, but the ways and means for getting there are almost limitless! It's exciting!

The weather is, of course, beautiful. The days are warm - in the low 80's I would guess - but the evenings and mornings are cool enough to wear a sweater. I've already learned how to navigate all around town (though that's not hard to do in a town of 40,000 or so people). I know where the hip coffee shops are, the art cooperative, the bars, the theatres, even the local hookah shop. I went to the beach one day too. Olympia is at the Southern most part of the Puget Sound. The most impressive thing was that blackberry bushes grew wild everywhere - they grow like weeds here - along the beach, along the side of the road, behind people's houses - EVERYWHERE - and you can just pick the blackberries right off the bush and eat them! And they're sooo good - nothing like the ones you buy in the store. Simply amazing.

So, Tatiana and Ethan and Andy and Tatjana and Jayden are coming to Seattle on Saturday. I'm going to pick Tatiana up at the airport and hang with her in Olympia for a few days. I think I'm going to take her with me on Sunday to check out an eco-village in Port Townsend that I had contacted about a possible internship opportunity. We're planning to go whale watching as well (it's peak season right now). And, we're going to pick blackberries and make a pie, or perhaps pancakes. Should be fun.

Hope this finds all of you well.
