Moved In!

Dec 02, 2007 12:42

Well, all my stuff is anyway. It's not all put away and organized as of yet, but we'll get there eventually. I'm hoping to do a good deal of the final unpacking and organizing tomorrow since I have the whole day off. So that should be good. But I went and turned in my keys to my old landlord on Friday and everything. So we're all moved into the new apartment.

Another new development is that we got a dog! Or rather, I got a dog. I paid for her and everything, so she's "mine", but while we live together she's also Samantha's. So on like Monday Samantha and I were driving around and running some errands. We decided to stop at the Humane Society and just see what kind of dogs they had. Because we had talked about getting a dog anyway. So we went in and I saw Blossom. She's a Beagle/Terrier mix. She's very sweet and loving. We took her into one of the visiting rooms and played with her a little. She was already on hold for this other person so I had to wait until Tuesday at 4:00 to find out if she was still there. I called on Wednesday morning and she was still there so I got to get her. I went in and paid for her to have a heartworm test, which was negative. Then they were going to have her spayed for me and I could pick her up on Friday. I found out on Thursday that she had already been spayed, so I could have gone and gotten her then, but we didn't have anything ready for her yet. So Samantha and I went and bought food and a collar, leash, and halter for her. So I went to pick her up on Friday after I turned in my apartment keys.

I absolutely love her! She's incredibly cute. I think she might have been beaten by her former owners or something because she cowers when I raise my hand if I'm angry with her. I've only yelled at her a couple of times. I had to discipline her for peeing on the carpet twice and once for chasing Oreo. But I think she's gotten the point now. So hopefully we won't have to yell at her anymore. She is definitely a bed hog though. She lays on my bed with me when I'm watching tv in my room and when I'm sleeping and she sprawls out! It's crazy. But I don't really mind all that much.

The cats are pretty much ok with her. Oreo is still figuring her out I think. But at least she came out of hiding this morning. I'm showing Oreo that I still love her just as much, so hopefully she doesn't feel replaced at all. Ruby is just fine with Blossom except that she just stares at her. Samantha and I and the animals were in the Living Room yesterday just sitting around and talking and Ruby wouldn't take her eyes off of Blossom even though all she was doing was lying there. It was kinda funny. But I'm sure as they get used to each other they'll all be just fine. So yeah, that's all for now. I hope everyone else is doing well!
