Haha, oh I am brilliant.
I've been working on my world/languages again, and apparently a while ago I decided, for no real reason, to make one language (Jdemok) into the trade language of a given group of people. So I've spent the past little while fleshing out the Jdemok culture, which was fine until I started looking at what I have of their language and realized that their language was originally inspired by reading about the Pirahã, and as such lacks words for numbers, colors kinship terms, etc. Now this would be fine, except that the culture I've been working on has better arithmetic skills, a more complex system of kinship relationships, and just generally needs to quantify stuff more than the language they were supposed to have allows for. In fact, they'd probably have the best and most complete set of terms for these types of things of anyone around. So uhm. Shit. XD
Either I have to change the language--so it loses everything I originally intended for it--or I have to choose a new language for them to speak, which would involve making up a ton of new words. Maybe I can split it into two languages? That'll be weird / require some explanation if the cultures that speak each respective language exist in the same universe. Hmm... but maybe I can work out some relationship between the two (they were originally one people, but ... dissagreed and became complete opposites? The one imposed it's language upon the other, so they adopted a bunch of words, grammar, and their entire phonological system? >>;).
