I am torn between flailing and drawing large hearts in this comment, as I have an overwhelming amount of love for this fic. Faith is my favorite female character in Buffyverse; there's little I adore as much as a quality Faith rendering, especially a post-prison one. Dawn is the major character I waver the most on, as even Joss's posse had difficulty writing her well. You sketch out a relationship between the two women that grants them their complexity and dignity. There's a fundamental understanding between outsiders here that feels true.
I would *love* to see these two after the final battle, working together and starting over.
LOVE the icon. Faith/Dawn is my sekrit OTP in that fandom, no lie. I owe that mostly to idyll, but not in any obvious way. (She would prolly be all, "wut?") Agreement and a half re: Faith and post-prison.

There's something so special about reading outloud, I really like thinking about the telling of the story, how they slowly become friends.
The ending was just lovely, too.

But yeah, wistful is the word.

(also, extra thanks for being awesome with Dawn - I know 90% of people hate her, but I just adore the pants off of her)
