"I just ran here in five seconds," she burst out, barely remembering not to shake him in time. "Five seconds and things are going really slow and I think I'm kind of in trouble and I'm starving and I don't think I can sit still and oh my god, is this what it's like for you all the time?"

"This is so - I don't even know how to describe it," she added, consciously making an effort to slow down. "My head is buzzing and I just feel like I have to move. I thought no powers worked here - do you feel your connection?"

"I don't think it's quite the same. But you have to remember what it feels like to be moving at normal speed, and try to stay there. If you let the speed control you, it will use you up."

Her stomach rumbled insistently again and she made a face. "I, um, don't suppose you have any fruit or something here? Because if you don't, I think I have to run to the kitchen and get something to eat like right now."

"Carbs will be the best, complex is better than simple, but it's mostly about the calories."

Part of it was the whole scary and feeling out of control thing but it was also that it didn't seem fair for her to have something and not Bart.
She drew her knees up to her chest to give her an excuse to move and looked at him. "Thank you. For, you know, not screaming and running away."

"For me, scary was the world outside the VR chamber, because it didn't play by the rules I knew, and I couldn't start over when I made mistakes."

"You know, you make one comment about having to go evil and wear black leather and no one lets you forget it," she added teasingly. "Maybe someday I will wear some, if I am sure that I can overcome its inherent evil or something like that."
It was totally ridiculous to be having this conversation, but it was giving her something else to focus on than the itch to run.
