RP Log between
arrow_feathers and
wyld_stallion.
Stallion: *his head is tucked under Hugo's chin as they watch the stars*
Hugo: *breathes steadily despite the racing of his heart to be this close to Stallion.* Oh! A shooting star.
Stallion: *watches it* You know what my parents told me shooting stars were? That they were the arrows of the elves in the sky as they were hunting game.
Hugo: *idly runs his fingers through Stallion's hair.* Our elders say that shooter stars were the arrows of the fallen.
Stallion: Interesting that two villages so far apart can come up with similar theories. Although those stories are just what they tell children for fun. A few elves have chosen to spend their lives studying the stars.
Hugo: Really? How?
Stallion: *sits up so he can look at Hugo* Really how to what?
Hugo: Studying the stars? I mean, what else is there to know about them?
Stallion: Oh, all kinds of things! You can guide yourself by them. I'm told that's what sailors do.
Hugo: The elders say they tell the stories of the past.
Stallion: In a way, they do. Because they're really old. Older than the oldest elf and the oldest tree.
Hugo: *seriously* They make me feel ... alive. *pauses* I mean, like I'm a part of something bigger than any of us can ever comprehend.
Stallion: *nodnod* They make me feel really small, too. The star sages say that through all of the study, they think this world travels around the sun, and not the sun moving around the world.
Hugo: *sighs contently, and rests his head on Stallion's shoulder.* And no matter what, they'll always be there, looking down on us.
Stallion: This is true. The stars will always be there. *he kissed Hugo's hair* I imagine that living out on the Grasslands, you always had fair view of the stars.
Hugo: *nods* Yeah ... most of the light in the village at night was from the stars and the moon ... and the few fires that were burning.
Stallion: I never spent a night out among the stars until I joined Kitsune's army. But at night, looking from my home and up through the trees, you could sometimes see the moonlight gliding through.
Hugo: I don't know if I could ever live where I couldn't see the stars .... *wraps an arm around Stallion*
Stallion: I used to think that way about trees. However, even when traveling, if I don't see a tree after a day or two, I get a bit nervous.
Hugo: *quietly takes this in as he snuggles closer to Stallion.*
Stallion: *doesn't feel the need to get romantic. Or rather, doesn't feel the need to change things. Holding and being held and watching the stars, those things are enough to make the elf feel very alive indeed*
Hugo: *quietly* I'm glad we finally got to go to the festival together.
Stallion: *also quiet* Yeah, me too. *his hand silently links with Hugo's*
Hugo: It was a long time coming ... it's good to see everyone relaxing now.
Stallion: Perhaps we can put a rest to all the excitement for now and get on with our lives. Maybe this means you can go back to your room, as I haven't seen your mother anywhere.
Hugo: Ah ... I'll finally be able to sleep in my own bed again. *smiles* Knowing my mom, she's probably found someone else's room to sleep in by now.
Stallion: Now that you have no excuse to frazzle yourself, I think you should take some time off from the infirmary and relax. Maybe a day or two. Read a book. Hang around Aila. And eat right. *pokes him in the side*
Hugo: *chuckles* I'll have you know I have been eating right for at least a week now.
Stallion: Continue that trend, would you? I want my grassrunner to be healthy!
Hugo: *blushes slightly at being called Stallion's grassrunner.* I will, although I might need to eat some of those meals with you to make sure I stay on track. *winks*
Stallion: *grins back* As much as I'm able! Although now that the festival is dying down, I think people will be eager to have things delivered again. I'll have meals for you when I can manage.
Hugo: Well, maybe once and a while ... then you can check up on my habits. *smiles*
Stallion: In that case, I'd be happy to. *snuggle, snuggle, nest and snuggle*
