Wow, babe, I was not expecting the note of hope at the end. Thank you for that. Although, silly boys, why weren't they fucking before?

You smooshed my home, though. Can I come sleep on your floor?

I'm afraid the earthquakes took care of the west coast. But we could build a nice rafty. :)

Tx, ande.

I have tears in my eyes, Arrow. Real tears. This is just beautiful in a, you know, completely heartbreaking kind of way.

Thank goodness that Ray wakes up and sees what's happening with Fraser. Fraser would only be able to make it by focusing on Ray - making sure that he survives. With Ray in complete withdrawal like that, sleeping constantly, Fraser must really have felt that his world was ending. :( And it's a noble thought to try to help other (potential) survirors, but...

"Fuck duty. Fuck the world, Fraser, except for us. You, me, Dief. That’s it. That’s everything I care about."

He must have said something right, because Fraser stopped packing, and took off his coat.

That night when Fraser got into bed, he curled up right away, holding Ray tight.

...Ray's right. :( Sadly.

It felt like every time Fraser pushed in, he was proving something. His determination to live, for Ray to live. For love to live.

When Ray opened his eyes again, the cabin looked different. It looked like home. And that was where you broke me ( ... )

Oh, Arrow, that just hit me right here in my heart. This is utterly gorgeous, even in the midst of desolation and that ending, with the little slivers of hope coming back with the sun actually made me tear up.

You, my lady, are a treasure to this fandom. Don't plan on going anywhere soon, 'kay?

Oh good lord. Just go ahead and write me a book around this story. I am willing to wait. What do you need in the meantime? How can we set aside the time for you to pen this novel?
*puzzles over this for awhile*
This was just fantastic and made me want more more more. Dearest arroww00 - you make me GREEDY for more of your words!

oh, thank you, ruth. I only wish we all could. :)

I think morgandawn already wrote the definitive post-apocalyptic dS novel (searches frantically for link) ah, yes: Long Way Home, with Justine Bennett. Not for the faint of heart. Their Fraser catches on a lot faster to the very hard realities than Vecchio. It's an amazing novel.
