A Terminal-Wide Broadcast (open RP)

((Continued from here. Permission given by Max-mun to use him in the post.))Edison paced, mentally reviewing his hook. He checked his camera again; it was fine, as it had been twenty seconds ago. He ran over his hook again, decided it sounded like crap, and changed a few things. Then he realized that Max was getting impatient, and an impatient Max ( Read more... )

James Bond had already formulated his own opinion the instant he saw Albert Wesker's face on the television screen over the exit to the gym as he came out of the natatorium that day.

Needless to say, he wasted very little time returning to his room in order to slip into some proper clothing, check that his gun was in working order, and then walk briskly into the terminal in pursuit of...well. In pursuit of the reporter or the prospective villain, whichever showed their mug first.

It turned out he nearly walked right by the former, bent over in a chair as he was. But when he did recognize the reporter, he stopped and pulled up in front of him.

"Mr. Carter, isn't it?"

Edison jerked upright at the voice, certain for just the briefest moment that Wesker was about to make good on his threat. Upon seeing who it was, he smiled, mostly in relief, and stood. "Edison's fine. Something I can do for you, Mr. Bond?" The Wesker interview wasn't the only tape he'd been reviewing the past few days. He was afraid his nerves had shown through in his tone; he meant the question as perfectly sincere, and hoped it didn't come across as too abrupt.

Sensing his nerves, perhaps, Bond extended his hand as Edison stood, returning the smile warmly. "I was hoping you might tell me what you know about Albert Wesker," he said then. "In return, I think I might just be able to help you resolve the situation."

Kaylee had described him as government man. And while Edison made a point of not trusting governemt people on general principles, he was more than happy to make an exception this one time.

"Well, I know he scared Max pretty bad." Edison pointedly did not mention how Wesker had scared him. "And...his eyes glow. Red." A touch embarassed, but also a touch defiant. After all, they had proof of that. "What you saw was all I got out of him, though. Max was the first one to meet him; he can replay that for you." He glanced around. "Assuming he's not hiding somewhere. Hey, Max!"

Camilla didn't panic. She could have, but she didn't. Instead, moved by curiosity, she made her way to the part of the terminal she'd recognised in the background of Edison's broadcast.

She'd never met Edison. She hadn't even known he was here. She kept a blanket over the television in her room, in case Max should ever pop up. She'd happened to be walking for exercise and passing a bank of monitors when this broadcast aired.

"You're the one who was on the television, yes? Edison Carter?"

"That's right," he said, standing. There was something almost regal about the way she carried herself; that was interesting. "Formerly of Network 23." He grinned then, a bit humorlessly than he meant to, and added, "But you've probably never heard of it, have you?"

Camilla waved a hand, a vague gesture of unconcern. "Oh, I'm sure I never have. I never really watched much television. That's not to say it wasn't a good show," she added politely. "I'm Camilla, by the way," while she was at the politeness. "Camilla Macaulay. What I want to know is how much of a threat you really think this virus is."

Didn't watch much television? Obviously, they weren't from the same time. He was beginning to think some of these people weren't even from the same world. Her echo, intentional or not, of his tagline made him grin, though.

"I couldn't say, really," he replied, apologetically. "I think Wesker's dangerous enough to be telling the truth about it, though. His kind don't tend to exaggerate." They don't need to.

The first time? He had ignored it - plain and simple. He knew that he had already been shown across the network. But did he care? Not too much. It was only rational for the program to warn whatever was swarming in the bowels of the complex to his presence, but this report? Ah, well, he couldn't stand for it. It was time to get the truth out there, even if it meant losing a pawn or two. Perhaps it was bigger than that; a knight perhaps? But it was all to protect the king, after all, so a few lost pieces weren't a total loss.

He adjusted his lapels as he came to the door, twisted his head slightly releasing any kinks in his neck, and gave a good slick to his hair; why look sloppy at an unannounced meeting? That wouldn't be proper at all - not for a man of his caliber, anyway. Man, Tyrant; whatever.

The knock was a crisp one and as he pulled his hand from the door, he pushed his sunglasses up and tightened his lips into a thin, small frown.

"Mr. Carter; a word?"

It had been some hours, and Edison had finally gone back to his room. He was just walking out of the shower when the knock came, and hurried to pull on his pants. "Just a sec!" he called. He tossed the towel over the TV screen as he went by and yanked the door open...

And froze. And bristled. "Mr. Wesker," he greeted stiffly. He was kind of wishing he hadn't blocked the screen now. Oh well. Max could still hear. He silently prayed his alter ego would keep quiet about being there, though.

Assuming he even was there.

"I do hope you aren't busy. I would like to have a talk." He raised his leather-gloved hands, opening them, showing he had nothing to hide. "You can check me, if you wish. I have not a thing on me but a cigar and a mini-fridge bottle of vodka. I am sure you can break out your own, unless you have been here so long you have already indulged." He smirked at the end of his sentence and humbly let himself in.

"Ah, nice "pad" Mr. Carter." Albert padded forward, his hands now in the deep recesses of his pockets. "Now." He turned sharply and took a seat near the television. "I think you should have a seat."

"Won't you come in?" Edison grumbled quietly. He left the door open and leaned against the wall right next to the TV. "I think I'll stand. Something I can do for you?"
