CHAPTER 4
Elerosse took Legolas to see Mir, before they started out on their tour of the city.
"Well Met Elemmire!"
"Well Met Elerosse, Legolas! Mir is a wonderful horse and very loyal to you as well."
"Well Met Elemmire! Aye, he has been well kept thank you Elemmire! I hope he has not been any trouble he can be a handful to strangers." Legolas said as he was being nuzzled by Mir.
"Not at all he has been very good and very handsome."
The horse whinnied at the compliment and they all laughed.
"I will see you later Mir you behave for Elemmire." Legolas spoke to Mir in soft elfish tones eliciting a soft neighing from his friend.
"Farewell Elemmire! We will be back tomorrow then."
"Aye Farewell Legolas, Elerosse!"
Sounds of beautiful music, song and laughter filled the air. Groups of elves and elf lings roamed everywhere feasting freely from the different tables and chatting happily. Wine also flowed freely as the elves celebrated the beloved mid-summer festival. Legolas could not help but get caught up in the festivities. He and Elerosse played games with the elf lings. One of particularly small elfling handed a small-carved toy sun to Legolas placing a kiss on the mirkwood elf’s cheek, before running off to join his family. The Golden Prince tucked the small toy away in his tunic. Legolas laughed and Elerosse smiled to see how happy that he seemed. They battled playfully with elf-lings dressed as either the sun-king or his rival the autumnal-king. They sat and watched a play put on by a group of very talented young elves that gave light to the meaning of the ancient holiday. Legolas had celebrated this time in Mirkwood as well, but it was nothing like the lengths they went to here. Everything was so jovial and the elves were truly content, as if they had no real cares in the world and all was well. They were both full as early evening approached. Elerosse had wandered away to one of the tables and came back with two tankards of sweet wine, handing one to Legolas. They wandered in silence toward a path leading away from the city center toward the open field where the main celebration would be held.
The further away from the city they got the thinner the crowd grew. Young lovers seemed to be everywhere holding hands and sharing whisperings of love and stolen kisses. Each of the couples finding a spot to be alone with their chosen one until it would be time for the main celebration. Elerosse took Legolas' hand and pulled the Silvan to him capturing his lips and tasting of his sweet mouth once more. Both only stopping when the need for air grew too great. They continued on until the finally passed through the cities gate to a vast field that lay ahead of them.
Legolas was again amazed to see the startling scenery that was displayed before him. Lavender grass and tall trees, some silver like he had seen in Elerosse's garden. Some had leaves of pale green or golden with branches of light bronze and their was even one that he recognized..a Mallorn! An unknown creature floated by that Legolas became entranced in. It was round of body, which was translucent and swirled with pale colors from within and had gossamer wings of pale pink with traces of silver. It paused for about a moment before the two elves before floating away in the light breezes.
As the day was starting to wan and a large bale-fire was being readied for the main part of the celebration. More of the cities elves started to drift to the vast field and both happy and sad songs where sung at the joy that the sun-king had brought and at the sorrow of his impending death. There were tables set up around the outskirts of the fields that offered more food, and sweet honey wine. Also tables various with herbal talismans and offerings to the fae spirits for continuing protection, fertility and health. Elerosse paused by one table picking up a vile of sweetly scented oil. He was even offered a couple bottles of rather potent honey mead that he gladly accepted. Turning he smiled at Legolas but caught a troubled look on his friends face.
"Does something trouble you my friend?" said the Elandorian elf looking concerned.
"Elerosse, I am a bit over-whelmed...” Legolas confessed.
"How so lirimaer?" Looked questioningly at his temporary lover.
"I must confess..I have never seen any of these sights before. I find it strange that I have been to various parts of middle-earth, but I am at a loss for what I am seeing. Surely I am loosing my mind of this is but a dream that I have yet to waken from?"
"I assure you that you are not loosing your mind. But tell me Legolas are you not enjoying yourself?"
"I am! I have not felt this free in a long time. But this can not be real!" Legolas sat heavily leaning on one of the Mallorn trees that were the only thing real to him.
Elerosse sang softly a calming song that chased Legolas doubts away and put the wood-elf's mind at ease.
"If you are truly happy and at peace why wonder at it. Enjoy it while you can. And if it turns out to be a dream then it will hopefully be a very soothing dream.
"Aye, that it will. You are right," Legolas with a small grin adorning his lips. "I will not dwell on this anymore."
With that Elerosse brushed his lips lightly over the princes before capturing them in a heated dance. Breaking away they turned their attention to the festivities as the gathers grew in number as the day gave into the night. A blanket of twinkling stars covered the darkening sky. And the bale-fire was finally lit causing a stir of excitement from the gathering crowd.
"There will be a large bonding ceremony for those that wish to be mated tonight.
That will be done right after the elders perform the ceremonies and present the offerings to the spirits for the abundance that the sun-king and the his lady have allowed this year."
"This is truly a joyous time." Legolas took a sip in the last sip of his sweet wine.
"What happens then?"
"More drinking, feasting and dancing and then the couples will go off to consummate their bonding. Others will go and bathe in the natural pools around to bring themselves healing, cleansing and protection. When the fire dies out the ashes will be given to everyone in the city and surrounding area who attended to bring them protection, health and luck."
Legolas smiled at Elerosse, caught up in the feeling of pure joy that seemed to permeate the warm night air. He was truly enjoying himself and whether this was real or not he would enjoy it while it lasted.
The night took on a whole ethereal look. The silver trees started to glow softly in the moonlight while still playing their melodious song. All around them their where strange yet calming sounds of forest creatures. Large mushroom-like plants seemed to bloom shimmering in a pale green color. Legolas thought he could actually see small fae-like creatures flitting about from with in the forest that surrounded. He thought well than to doubt for he was indeed seeing many strange yet wonderful sights nothing would surprise him at this point. Indeed the air itself seemed to shimmer with anticipation.
With everyone finally gathered the Elder's started the simple ceremony. They lifted their voices in song and called forth the spirits and placed their offerings of fresh flowers, fruits, herbs and seeds. He could almost imagine seeing the sun-king and his lady smiling at the love that seemed to flow from the elves at the gathering. Once the singing stopped the elves tossed herbs and varying plants into the bale-fire. Elerosse did this as well as Legolas looked on.
"Now they call forth the couples." Elerosse whispered to Legolas.
Legolas just smiled and sipped at the mead that had been poured into his cup. It was sweet and tasted of honey it was very different from the sweet wine they had had earlier. This was definitely much more potent as well but it quenched his thirst well. Elerosse place an arm around the prince pulling him back to lean into him as they watched. Legolas smiled and let himself relax in the light embrace.
The ceremony for the bonding had begun. There were many couples standing near the elders and the bale-fire. He noticed that not all couples were of the opposite sex. In fact a few were of the same sex either she-elves or he-elves. He was glad that this was openly accepted amongst the elves here. Legolas recognized one of them as the she-elf he had met earlier in the day, Larien. She was very beautiful and she wore a simple gown of pale blue with a full wreath of flowers encircling her head. Her chosen was a very handsome he-elf with hair of blond and was rather broad in the shoulders for an elf. He reminded Legolas of Glorfindel, handsome and strong. As the words to bind the couples were spoken the very air surrounding the newly bonded seemed to lighten and shimmer. It was as if the heavens truly opened up and was raining down it's blessing on them. A she-elf whose beauty seemed to be gifted by the Valars also made her way toward the couples blessing them as well.
"Who is that Elerosse?" Legolas said with awe.
Elerosse was for once speechless. He was not sure if he should tell him that who he was seeing was actually Elbereth. He had already quelled the elf's suspicions once, but this well this might prove to be too much. His long time in answering made Legolas turn to look at him questioningly.
"Her name is...Elbereth." He finally said almost holding his breath in waiting for the elf's reaction.
Legolas continued to look at him with faint surprise registering in his eyes. His lips parted slightly as if he wanted to say something but was not sure he wanted to know the answer. So Elerosse did the one thing he was hoping would push the thoughts away from the Silvan elf. He claimed his lips driving his tongue into the wood-elf's sweet mouth. Legolas almost pulled away but gave in as the feelings of arousal over took him. *By the Valar! This elf makes me lose all focus with his touch.*
When they pulled apart Legolas had a gleam in his eye that made Elerosse take heed.
"I am truly beginning to believe this is a dream." Legolas said not expecting the Elenador elf to reply.
"Elbereth...is that..is she.." In truth he felt as if he already knew the answer.
"Do you really want to know the answer Legolas?"
"I..no. I do not really want to dwell on this. Like you said before if this is a dream then just enjoy it."
A bit shaken Legolas allowed himself to be pulled back into Elerosse's warm embrace. The Elenador elf continued to hold the Silvan while running his fingers through the princes silky hair and placing light kisses down the side of his face. Legolas sighed he did feel content even if some of the things he had come across were startling to say the least. Elerosse was glad that his charge seemed to be accepting the strange things that were being thrown at him. He truly wished he could be truthful with Legolas but he was not allowed to do so. He felt fairly sure that the prince would not believe it anyways.
He for once let himself think about his sister. He missed her dearly for very rarely were they apart. He wondered how she was faring with her task and smiled at the thought of what she was possibly doing to the twins. He had not realized it but he outwardly sighed in this reverie, which caught the Silvan's attention. *Oh my sister how I miss you so.* He reached outwardly to the bond they shared and heard her melodious laughter.
*Brother of mine is everything all right, melme?*
*Ai, yes just missing you that’s all, melamin.*
*As I miss you! Soon we will be together it is but for a short time.*
He heard her giggle again and moan seductively. Which caused a stirring in his groin.
*How are you doing with the twins and Estel?*
*I sent Estel home to his betrothed, I did not feel right to have him and he belonged to another." Elladan and Elrohir are almost as insatiable as we are. Truly one day we need to get them to ourselves, what fun we will have.* He heard her laugh wickedly.
*Mmmmm sounds like that will be something that we will have to most definitely consider* He grinned outwardly and licked his lips.
*I will not ask how you are doing with the golden prince. I will be with you soon melme. I am being twinlested..mmmmm*
Elerosse just grinned lustfully as he heard her soft moans reach down into his desire. When he finally came back to himself he was staring face to face with a very concerned prince. He was a bit worried at what the prince might have read in his expressions. He was also glad for his loose tunic that covered his budding erection.
"Elerosse are you all right?" Legolas had been watching the changing expressions on Elerosse's face his eyes. It reminded him of the twins and what happened to them when they talked to each other through their bond.
"I...I am fine Legolas. I am sorry if I drifted off..I.." Was all the elf wanted to say, as he blushed a bit.
"Were you talking with your twin?"
"My twin...umm.. ahh..well...yes." He finally managed to say.
"I thought so the way your expressions changed over your face reminded me of Lord Elrond’s twins when they talk through their bond. You are able to do the same with her?" Legolas smiled.
"I am sorry Legolas, I should have not done that. And yes we are able to speak with each other through our bond. It is just I miss her so." He could never deny his sister even if he was not supposed to reveal anything.
"That is all right Elerosse, I understand. I have been around the twins long enough to not be offended."
"You are very kind lirimaer. I will not let it happen again."
"Everything is well then?"
"Aye, all is well with her. Look the dancing has started around the bale-fire, shale we?"
"Of course!"
Legolas pulled the Elenador up to his feet and they both went to dance with the others. They dances to health and happiness and to lucky and to the newly bonded couples. As the ceremony grew to a close and the final blessings of the eldars was said it was already late into the night. More food was brought out and more honey mead was poured and gladly accepted. When the two finally tired it was more due to the mead then the actual dancing. Legolas noticed that even though most were still here enjoying the celebration some were actually going into the woods in either groups of two or three.
"Elerosse, where are they going? Do they not fear an Orc attack?"
"Ai! Legolas, I have told you before their are no Orcs here, so there is nothing to fear."
"Aye you have told me. I find it hard to believe there is a place where there are no Orcs"
"As far as where they are going they are going for the ritual bathing. Their are many warm ponds that have been prepared for this night. I was hoping you would like to do this so I reserved one in case. Would you like to go?"
"I remember now and aye, I would love to all this dancing it would be good to cool off."
"Then come all that we need awaits us there."
Elerosse slipped his arm around the elf's pulling him close. He smiled as he felt muscular arms slip around his waist in return. They walked off into the surrounding woods.
