Having just promised you all I'd get off my soapbox, I must state briefly that the
front page of the Times today made me want to spit. Of course Plan B only makes sense if it costs $35 and requires you to live near a planned parenthood or have access to a doctor who doesn't know your parents. And I can't figure out, for the life of me, why the fucking papers insist on calling it the "morning-after pill" and not emergency contraception, which is what it actually is.
Top agency officials were deeply involved in the decision, which was "very, very rare," a top F.D.A. review official told investigators. The officials' decision to ignore the recommendation of an independent advisory committee as well as the agency's own scientific review staff was unprecedented, the report found. And a top official's "novel" rationale for rejecting the application contradicted past agency practices, it concluded.
