I GRADUATED TODAY!!!
I cried like a baby too and i'm really gonna miss everyone so much. The ceremony was very emotional for the students and the faculty. I couldn't thank them enough for what they've done for me and I must say that if I was given the chance I would definitely go through the whole process again just to grow even more from it. When they finally announced us to be graduated and we moved our tassels from left to right, they allowed us to go on the stage and give our thanks to our teachers. I went up there and gave my English teacher Mrs. Stuckey a HUGE hug and we ended up just crying there with each other for about 5 minutes and I got a lot more hugs from others too that I will miss dearly. Then looking back on it I think to myself and wonder how I got so emotional because i'm more of a person that has a tough shell on the outside but i've got an incredibly tender heart and most people don't see that. When I first got to that school I was a mess and didn't know what to do with myself, but over the years i've matured into an amazing woman with a good head on my shoulders and an immensely educated brain to fill that head on my shoulders and I owe that all to the teachers that helped keep my focus on my personal goals and to not care about what others thought about me and my life, because this is my life and I can finally say that I will do what I want with it without being held back by anything or anyone that says that "I can't".
Then later on today I will be heading to Galveston with fellow seniors to celebrate our last night together and i'm sure I will take tons of photos so there will be a lot to see once I figure out how to put photos on this thing.
I don't have too much more to say than what i've said already, but I do have the perfect song to end this entry with because it sort of mirrors the feelings I felt during and after the graduation ceremony...
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
'Cause - 'cause - 'cause I remember when a we used to sit
In a government yard in Trenchtown,
Oba - obaserving the 'ypocrites - yeah! -
Mingle with the good people we meet, yeah!
Good friends we have, oh, good friends we have lost
Along the way, yeah!
In this great future, you can't forget your past;
So dry your tears, I seh. Yeah!
No, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry. Eh, yeah!
A little darlin', don't shed no tears:
No, woman, no cry. Eh!
Said - said - said I remember when we used to sit
In the government yard in Trenchtown, yeah!
And then Georgie would make the fire lights,
I seh, logwood burnin' through the nights, yeah!
Then we would cook cornmeal porridge, say,
Of which I'll share with you, yeah!
My feet is my only carriage
And so I've got to push on through.
Oh, while I'm gone,
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right, yeah!
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right-a!
Everything's gonna be all right!
Everything's gonna be all right, yeah!
Everything's gonna be all right!
So no, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
I seh, O little - O little darlin', don't shed no tears;
No, woman, no cry, eh.
No, woman - no, woman - no, woman, no cry;
No, woman, no cry.
One more time I got to say:
O little - little darlin', please don't shed no tears;
No, woman, no cry.
