Rolo exhibits zero interest in sex or romance, showing no indication of attraction to anyone in series, save perhaps his extremely strong obsession with Lelouch. However, since this obsession doesn't seem in any way sexual in nature, it's safe to assume Rolo is asexual.

APPEARANCE ⇨
One of the primary reasons Rolo was chosen to infiltrate Lelouch's life was because Rolo looks very similar to Lelouch's original sibling, Nunnally. With soft brown hair, a slight frame (115lbs), and petite stature (5'5" which is kinda short for CG-world), Rolo looks frail and very young. His eyes are large and a color of violet similar, if lighter than Lelouch's, though they are frequently narrowed in annoyance or cynicism. But the striking part of Rolo's appearance is just how similar he looks to Nunnally. According to Rolo's Wikipedia Page, during the planning stages of Code Geass, Rolo was originally intended to be a half-brother to Lelouch and his physical appearance is designed to be 'a cross between Lelouch and Nunnally'.

Rolo's sense of fashion, however, is lacking. He often relies on Lelouch to know what would best suit him or simply resorts to wearing his uniform. Any other time, Rolo is often dressed in clothing that allows him to move freely and has plenty of pockets and hiding places for his possessions and weapons. He also prefers shorts to pants to fit into the shota stereotype.

ABILITIES/WEAPONS ⇨
GEASS↘
Rolo has only one "power" of sorts and this is his Geass. Geass is the ability to control others in various ways and even the main character, Lelouch, has a Geass. However, Rolo's Geass differs from Lelouch's in many ways. Also known as the Ward of Absolute Suspension, this ability, when activated by Rolo's will, suspends the time experienced by everyone within the radius of Rolo's choosing. Every person within the "bubble" is essentially frozen, incapable of moving, thinking, or even realizing they're under his power. They have no knowledge of what is going on while suspended and when the Geass fades, it seems as if nothing had happened within the time limit Rolo has his Geass activated.

To some, this might give the appearance that Rolo has the ability to disappear and reappear instantaneously, but this isn't the case. More like while Rolo freezes people, he still moves around, so that when he deactivates his Geass, he appears to have gone from one point to another, instantaneously.

Rolo's Geass has a range that is determined upon activation, and has no known limit. Physical obstacles and electronic/steam equipment are not affected and do not hinder its activation, nor does his Geass require eye contact (like is required of Lelouch's Geass). This allows Rolo to Geass large groups of people, even if he cannot see them.

When active, the pinkish-red Geass sigil lights up in Rolo's right eye and projects a red sphere around his body that is not seen by outsiders. It's hinted within series that other Geass users can see the Geass sigil in the eyes of another Geass user, but since the activation of Rolo's Geass freezes a person's thought process, this might not be the case for his.

Another key difference between Rolo and Lelouch's Geasses is that Rolo did not receive his through normal circumstances (ie, a contract with a Code-much like C.C., who gives Lelouch his Geass). In canon, Rolo receives his Geass through the Geass Directorate, a cult studying and testing the limits of Geass. Thus, Rolo's Geass does not follow many of the same laws and rules that govern Lelouch's. So, despite repeated use of his Geass over a long period of time, Rolo has not and will not experience Geass Runaway, an event that occurs when a Geass user's power becomes too strong to control and becomes permanent. So while in canon, Lelouch's Geass is permanent in his left eye and later spreads to both eyes, Rolo's Geass still remains dormant in his right eye and can be turned on or off at any time.

It should be noted that Rolo's Geass does not stop moving objects. The laws of physics still apply, so if a projective is filed at Rolo, even while his Geass is active, he will not be able to escape it. Finally, Rolo's Geass cannot and will not affect people that live outside normal time lines. For example, Rolo's Geass does not work on immortals such as C.C. or V.V. Nor will it work on gods, the undead, or people like Yuuko from xxxHolic, who live outside the standard stream of time.EXAMPLES OF ROLO'S GEASS IN USE:

» Rolo shanks the Player Character in the video game Lost Colors
» Lelouch confronts Rolo only to have the tables turned.
» Rolo uses Geass on Suzaku
» Rolo goes BAMF on the Black Knights and the Britannian Military SPOILER WARNING
» Possible extent of Rolo's Geass i.e. the entire Ashford Academy.

As seen in the above videos, Rolo often uses his Geass whist on missions and usually to provide sneak attacks or to kill others. He gives no warning and does not tell others of this ability. It cannot be sensed by others, nor can it be prevented, except by use of a Geass Canceller.
INTELLECT↘
While nowhere as intelligent as his older brother, Rolo is still very smart for his age. His knowledge centers mostly on the profession of killing others and therefore has extensive experience with how to use weaponry, human anatomy, and the like. Most of his victims, when their throats are slit, are dead before they hit the ground. And though he doesn't understand human emotions much, he is quite capable of reading people before they act, having had to study others while preparing for assassinations.EXAMPLES OF ROLO'S ASSASSINATIONS:

» Case A-03: William H. Helmsley
» Case B-09/10: Baron Bayer Wilibard and Comtesse Helmut
» Case B-13: Richard Angel
» Case C-01: Giuseppe Kamata Mayart
» Case C-04: Shelton Nowinski

Rolo is also intelligent when it comes to basic information. As a student at Ashford Academy, Rolo was an above average student. ‹His best subjects tend to be mathematics, chemistry, and biology as well as Physical Education.› The time spent with Lelouch also helped give Rolo a talent at several activities such as playing the piano, horseback riding, and cooking.

Because of both Ashford's higher standards for education and his training as an assassin, Rolo can also speak multiple languages. Finally, Rolo is very aware that most people take his appearance for granted and sometimes uses this against others.

WEAPONS↘
Rolo's primary weapon is a small, standard, military switch knife that he often keeps stored on his person. When needed, he is able to quickly pull it from whatever hiding place he keeps it, deftly flip it, and slice through skin. Rolo is also capable of incredible marksmanship, being an almost perfect shot. He rarely misses, and if he does, it's by centimeters. If he can find one, Rolo will often keep a handgun on him, hiding it along with his knife.

When not using close combat, Rolo is also experienced in building bombs or mixing poisons. His ability to create both quickly and efficiently are notable, though he does not rely on them nearly as much as he does on his knife or gun. However, wherever he goes, when he can get his hands on it, Rolo often carries a loaded syringe with a paralytic drug. Just in case.

OTHER↘
Though it won't crop up in any game he might be in, Rolo is an experienced and talented Knightmare Frame pilot. While not as capable as Kallen or Suzaku, Rolo's piloting is excellent, further enhanced by use of his Geass, which can send enemies into disarray and confusion.

Finally, Rolo is labeled as primarily right handed but trained to be ambidextrous. Should one arm be hurt or disabled, he's still capable of using his other.

WEAKNESSES ⇨
HIS HEART↘
As powerful as Rolo's Geass is, it does have a weakness. Since his Geass was not gained through standard means (via Contractor), it's faulty. Every time he uses it, Rolo's heart stops, which limits him to using his Geass in short bursts and only over short distances. Overuse leads to heart strain and ultimately failure, as is what happened while Rolo pushed himself beyond his limits to save Lelouch from harm.

Even when not in use, Rolo's Geass has had a lasting affect on his heart. Due to the damage it has caused, Rolo has Cardiac arrhythmia. It won't usually act up unless he pushes the limits of his Geass, though in game, his heart rate is steadied. However, as such, Rolo's not terribly fond of extreme physical exertion. But he is still as fit as average for his age, being capable of running quickly or for long distances, but not being very fond of it. Better stamina than Lelouch, anyway.
HIS UPBRINGING↘
Because of Rolo's time spent growing up watching the world around him rather than participating in it, Rolo has gained a cynical view of humans. Missions all over his world have given him a skewed version of humanity based on the base behavior he has seen in adults. A lack of interaction with children his age while he grew up has also given him a limited view on what is normal for his age. When it comes to common societal concepts that most would believe to be natural, he is unaware. Therefore, he becomes easily confused about what is expected for someone of his age group. Like slang.

What's more, because of his limited knowledge, Rolo is quite impressionable. Once someone gets past his mental blocks formed by distrust and wariness, a person could tell Rolo what should be "normal" and he'd be a bit more willing to believe in an attempt to become normal himself. However, if he suspects that person to be lying, not only will he disbelieve that person, but he may become violent towards them.
MANIPULATION↘
It can be pretty hard to lie to Rolo and not have him be suspicious of you, but that's not because he thinks you're a bad person. Only because he's generally suspicious of everyone. Since he was a child, he was instructed by V.V. that everyone is a liar, thus he automatically assumes a person is lying from the start. Lelouch, on the other hand, is different. Due to the relationship they had, Rolo almost blindly follows any order Lelouch gives him. Despite this, when Lelouch is lying, Rolo tends to be able to read these lies. He can't read his brother's mind, but he knows from experience when his brother is lying. This does not hold true for others.

Given time, should someone be just as kind and gentle to Rolo as Lelouch had been, he might begin to feel affection for them and let his guard down, thus being more easy to manipulate. This, however, would take a significant amount of time to occur. Lelouch gets the special ability of having a pre-existing hold on Rolo. More of this is explained in the PERSONALITY section.

PERSONALITY ⇨Because I’ll protect you this time
Because when it comes to the meaning of living, it’s here.
The person who gave me the heart
Known as ‘happiness’- …Brother

- from Rolo's Character Song: "Arabesque"

For the most part, Rolo seems like a shy, reserved young man who has difficulties making friends. He tends to have a blunt and brief manner of speaking, sometimes only responding in short sentences. When he is uncomfortable, he becomes easily flustered and reacts without thinking. But this personality is created by and also used to cover up for what he truly is. As a child assassin, Rolo is apathetic, cold, and disinterested in anything save his missions. In his mind, what is most important is completing said missions and even goes so far as to kill his fellow teammates when he feels they're in the way or possibly have learned something they should not have. He is ruthless and feels that any methods to achieve the end of his missions are the best, and "most efficient." When Rolo switches sides to join Lelouch's cause, this only changes somewhat in the sense that his drive to complete missions changes to a drive to assist and protect Lelouch. This shows in how he has no qualms with killing anyone in the way of Lelouch's plans or anyone that might come between him and Lelouch.

Despite this dangerous side of his personality, Rolo is extremely devoted to his false brother, Lelouch. The time that Rolo spent with Lelouch allowed Rolo a time of normalcy and happiness that he had never before known. Because of this, Rolo tends to show a softer, more gentle side only around Lelouch. Lelouch's affection becomes something Rolo craves, having been devoid of such attention his entire life. This is accentuated when Lelouch celebrates Rolo's "birthday", the first birthday Rolo had ever experienced, where he receives a heart-shaped locket from his brother. The locket becomes a symbol of his devotion and obsession with Lelouch so much that Rolo even kills a fellow member of his OSI team just for simply touching it. Rolo even reacts in fear to suggestions of his ties to Lelouch being taken away, such as when Lelouch offers to exchange the locket for something "more suitable for a boy."

Because of his strong devotion and love for Lelouch, it's easy for Lelouch to manipulate Rolo into believing he is cared for. Once Lelouch has Rolo under his wing, Rolo does anything and everything to protect Lelouch, their relationship, and their secrets. He follows almost every order Lelouch gives him. In fact, this drive becomes obsessive for Rolo and it shows when he kills Shirley in an attempt to silence her when she reveals her once sealed memories had been restored and then mentions wanting to reunite Lelouch and Nunnally. Rolo even sets out to kill Lelouch's true sibling, Nunnally, as well though he is prevented when she is seemingly killed by Suzaku's use of FLEIJA (a nuclear weapon) on the city of Tokyo.

Eventually, Rolo comes to understand that Lelouch is using him, but regardless of Lelouch's motivations and true feelings for Rolo, the young assassin continues to work for his brother and eventually sacrifices his own life in order to save Lelouch. He does this, claiming it to be his own choice, something that he had never been able to make when he was a tool for everyone around him, even Lelouch.

It should also be noted that though Rolo is highly skilled in the area of assassinations, Rolo doesn't tell anyone this (save, maybe, Lelouch). He pretends to be a normal young man, and his apathetic inner personality comes through as someone who is just shy and quiet. Rolo also knows this and sometimes takes advantage of it. But generally speaking, his quiet nature keeps others from suspecting his true motives or nature. The only indication that something about him might be off is that he seems to know more than he lets on.

HISTORY ⇨
2010 a.t.b. Japan was conquered by the Holy Britannian Empire, the superpower seeking world domination, and became Area 11. Seven years later, when the Japanese had started to lose hope, a single rebel appeared. The masked man, Zero. Zero, who preached about the liberation of Japan, led the Order of the Black Knights to a final battle against the Britannian army. But the Order of the Black Knights was defeated and Zero's death was inscribed in history.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 Episode 1

One year passed since the failed Black Rebellion in the Britannian territory of Area 11, formerly know as Japan. During that time, Britannia and Area 11 had begun to rebuild. It seemed that Zero had been executed, as the media proclaimed. However, this was not true. Zero was actually a scorned Britannian prince named Lelouch vi Britannia. During the Black Rebellion, he was captured and forced to meet his own father: the Emperor Charles zi Britannia. At that point, Lelouch was forced to forget all his memories of his dear sister who had been his raison d'être, his mother, and even his power of Geass, all of which had been his driving force to start his rebellion.

After this, Lelouch was sent back to Japan where he took up the role as a normal school boy named Lelouch Lamperouge. But, someone was needed to keep an eye on Lelouch, to prevent him from establishing contact with the woman that gave Lelouch the power of Geass: C.C.. This job was given to Rolo, a young boy raised by the shady cult known as the Geass Directorate. The Directorate, run by the Emperor's twin brother, had experimented on Rolo, gave him a Geass of his own, and trained him to be the perfect assassin. His Geass, coupled with his apathy towards the world and his drive to complete any mission given to him, gave him a significant advantage over Lelouch. With some reluctance, Rolo took up the role and for an entire year, he pretended to be Lelouch's younger brother. As a consequence, he became part of the close knit group of friends that Lelouch had in their school's Student Council. Over the duration of the year, Rolo became aware for the first time of how it felt to have friends and family. To him, the time he spent with Lelouch began to make him feel like a human rather than someone who had been used his entire life as a tool.

But this new life for Rolo did not last. Despite Rolo's efforts to prevent it, Lelouch was able to make contact with C.C., thus regaining his power and memories. When Lelouch discovered what had truly happened over the past year, he became angry and determined to get revenge on Rolo for taking the place of his true sister, Nunnally. With this mindset, Lelouch devised a plan that allowed him to manipulate Rolo into believing that despite Lelouch's regained memories and his plans to take down the Britannian empire, the prince still cared for Rolo as the brother he had pretended to be. Manipulated by Lelouch, Rolo became a traitor to his country and the Cult, joining forces with the Order of the Black Knights and Zero. He did so in secret since both Lelouch and Rolo did not want the Emperor or others to become aware of Lelouch's returned memories or Rolo's betrayal.

As Rolo became more and more involved in the Rebellion with Lelouch, his feelings for the older teen became more and more complex. By the end of the thirteenth episode, Rolo had realized that one of Lelouch's close friends had discovered his and Lelouch's true identities. When the girl, Shirley, suggested reuniting Lelouch with Nunnally, Rolo snapped and fatally shot her. One could say Rolo had become infatuated with the enigmatic terrorist and it had begun to twist his motivations.

Soon the Rebellion began to escalate farther than even what Lelouch had planned. After a chain of events leading to the complete destruction of Tokyo by way of nuclear bomb, Lelouch's sister Nunnally was believed to be dead. Distraught, Lelouch had to be forcibly removed from the battlefield by both Rolo and Jeremiah Gottwald, another one of Lelouch's allies. After bringing him to his quarters on the Black Knights' flag ship, Rolo tried to comfort Lelouch. This went awry as Lelouch lashed out at Rolo, revealing that all along Lelouch had planned to kill the younger boy and that Lelouch hated him for taking Nunnally's place. Rolo, terrified and upset, fled the room only to hide in some corner of the ship. There, while gazing at the locket that Lelouch had given him, he pondered what exactly his relationship was with Lelouch and what he would do next.

It didn't take too long for Rolo to come to a decision, and it was a fateful one. Lelouch was betrayed by the Black Knights, and as they prepared to execute him by way of firing squad, Rolo stole Lelouch's Knightmare (the Shinkirou), and used it along with his Geass to save Lelouch. Over and over again, Rolo was forced to combine the defensive capabilities of the Shinkirou (something he did not have a firm handle of due to the complex calculations needed for it) and his Geass. Pushing his Geass to its limit in several consecutive periods and over a broad range, his heart began to break down. Managing, at least, to land the Shinkirou and get Lelouch out of harm's way, Rolo succumbed to the failing of his heart. It was a bittersweet moment, because Lelouch finally recognized Rolo as his brother. As he smiled and closed his eyes, Rolo nodded and told Lelouch that he knew all along that Lelouch was lying and that he knew everything about his brother.

Rolo is taken from before the scene when Lelouch screams at him; After the bombing of Tokyo Settlement by FLEIJA.
HEAD CANON ⇨
Because Rolo's background is limited and large parts of it are unknown or not explained, I do add a little bit of head canon from time to time. This generally includes things like Rolo's health and his capabilities as an assassin. Any head-canon I came up with is based on and are slight expansions of the information given in Rolo's canon. I based his distaste for the medical community and anything related to doctors off years of experimentation like this. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I try not to step on toes, though, or make up too much. Most of my canon is based on pre-existing information that isn't always available, like this Picture Drama ( Turn 19.02) and side, light novels, like these two.

NOTES:
1 The majority of his stats come from here and here.
2 Even Rolo is unsure how old he is. He never kept track of his birthday before meeting Lelouch because it was deemed "unnecessary". What's more, Code Geass Canon is unspecific about how old he really is. Rolo's first birthday was celebrated on October 25, 2018 a.t.b., but this was only because Lelouch's subconsciously remembered Nunnally's birthday. Nunnally's birthday is also October 25, however, Lelouch's memory of her was sealed. Thus, Rolo was the one to experience the elaborate birthday party and was given his now treasured locket. For gaming purposes, I've chosen to make him 16.
3 While Canon-wise, Rolo does not show very many instances of proficiency with technology, there are a few instances that suggest he has a high level of aptitude. I've used such things as the scene shown above (where Rolo hacks into the broadcasting network on board a train that Lelouch is riding), his infiltration tactics (Episode 18/19), and his talent with Knightmare frames as a basis for determining Rolo's skill with technology and hacking.
