I had a good day at work today. I got to take a field trip to the colocation center (“colo”) where our servers are housed. This is a huge room full of cages containing
racks with power strips and ethernet plugs galore, which companies rent in fractions of a rack. We previously had a quarter-rack (10.5U or just under 18½”), and all of our machines were crammed in with barely any breathing-room between them. However, since business has continued growing and we’ve discovered we need more hardware, the Boss-man decided to upgrade to a half-rack (21U, or 36¼”). We put in a new 2U (3½”) machine today. We also had to call in Curtis (the main tech guy at the colo) to remove a box someone had abandoned in what was supposed to be our space.
I went shopping today and picked up the ingredients for my rouladen. Really looking forward to making that tomorrow!
I got a really awesome Japanese cookbook from M in the mail today. I like how they break it down: it includes a long section on all the different ingredients, another on utensils, and two separate sections that are further subdivided by the type of food (soups, sushi, and so on). But probably my favorite feature is that they include the words in actual Japanese in the titles, which totally brings out the
otaku in me.
I just finished reading book 8 in the X-Wing series (Isard’s Revenge). I’ve also been reading M’s thesis on Publius Sulpicius Rufus. We had a good chuckle about how I could read some of the Greek letters thanks to my math experience (trig in particular).
I’m going to try to get some work done tonight on A’s horse model. I’m waiting for him to get back to me on the other one I’d started. He said he had some changes to make, but the overall shape should remain the same. May need to purchase a quadruped rigging tutorial to figure out how to do this properly.
