Went to my "2nd interview" in Oxford yesterday. It all seemed rather odd, as the chap who'd headed the 3 person panel at the last interview popped out for his meeting for a chat before the interview and explained what was happening.
The upshot is, that although they didn't advertise the job I applied for as such, they were looking for part timers. They rather cleverly picked up on the fact that I didn't want a part time job, and had a pow-wow, and are investigating cobbling a full time role out of a) the job I went for and b) the bits of another part time job they were interviewing for, in the idea that this will equal a full time role for me. No guarantees, obviously.
So, off we went for interview again, where I met the 2nd of my potential line managers, were I to get the job, and was asked all sorts of questions I'd expected at my first interview. One of the 2 women interviewing me had already interviewed me the last time, so it all felt very strange.
Yet again, they said they hope to have an answer by mid next week. If they call on Tuesday and ask me to go back for another interview, or indeed say I haven't got the job, I shall be slightly miffed, to say the least. But it is flattering that they seem to be creating a job around me.
But, this also pushes things rather close - the Boy Wonder starts his posting in Brize in just over 1 week, we're waiting on details of the availability of married quarters, and I really, really need to know whether I should be giving notice at my current job and on the flat....
Still, hopefully it'll all muddle through in the end, and maybe my dream of a little car to call my own will come true at the end of August....
