It only took 16 hours from start to finish, but this weekend our dear little Schnauzer, Holly gave birth to her 3rd litter of babies.

And what an adventure! It was an exhausting and emotional ride. She went into labour at noon on Saturday (I was already sick and had just gotten back from the vet with Jasper and mom's puppy)and didn't start delivery until about 1am. And guess who was with her pretty much the whole time? That's right, this girl.

This is a shot of the first pup born sitting in my mommer's hand only a few moments after coming into the world. He was born breached (backwards) and we really didn't think he was going to make it so let me tell you, it was a beautiful moment when he took his first breath. He's the porker of the litter too!

There were three born altogether but sadly we lost the runt today (he's the wee one on top of the pile). It's weird the way nature works sometimes - we thought he was going to make it. It's sad, but at least he had the chance. This puppy midwifery is making an interesting person out of me.

So we aren't sure who the daddy is here. We hadn't planned on breeding Holly anymore and yet, surprise! Here we are... So we may have little mutt babies on our hands, but that's just fine, they're loved all the same!

Aaaaaaand finally, because I can't help myself:
