It's... been a while! I saw a few memes going around that I might pick up later. I'm feeling lazy right now, so... list!
→ SCOTT PILGRIM WAS AWESOME AND I WANT TO SEE IT AGAIN AND I DON'T THINK I HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH CASTING WHATSOEVER AND I WAS SO AFRAID BECAUSE I'M TIRED OF SEEING MICHAEL CERA ACT LIKE HE'S IN ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, BUT I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.
→ Which, in slightly less capslocky terms translates as: I saw it Thursday night and was a zombie all day Friday at work and it was totally worth it. My two greatest nervous points: Michael Cera as Scott and the ending... were fine. More than fine! I had a few really stupid, geeky nitpicks (Where were Roxy's bunnies!), but it was so amazingly true to the comic for me. I've just... never seen an adaptation that felt this close. Other than Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
→ PS: Wallace is still my hero.
→ I'M GOING TO CHANGE GEARS HERE.
→ Crappy Week From Hell: CLEARED! +1 Diligence! +1 Patience! You are now invulnerable to the status effect: BOREDOM. You have forged the GEEKY MANAGER social link!
→ Seriously. The only thing that kept me sane last week? Knowing that this week would be easier and chatting with the neighboring manager about things that are relevant to my interests! I like when things are relevant to my interests, because in the sake of keeping friendships and acquaintances afloat... I rarely get to talk about things that are relevant to my interests! He better work on Saturday because I have to be there until eleven at night and I NEED ENTERTAINMENT.
→ I COULD GUSH ABOUT NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR BUT I DON'T THINK ANY OF YOU WATCH IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM HAPPY ENOUGH TO HIT CAPSLOCK. I LOVE AARTI. I AM SO HAPPY SHE WON. (Also Food Network related: Food Truck Race! I'm already hooked!)
→ Today we went to the California Science Center to see the Mummies of the World exhibit. If you are ever able to see it, it is awesome. I... think it travels! Anyway. It's great because, well. I'm all GLEE over ancient cultures and history and it wasn't all EGYPT EGYPT EGYPT. There was a fair bit about Egyptian practices, of course. It's what everyone expects to see and it's what there's really a lot OF. But there's also quite a bit about South American mummies as well. (Credit where credit is due! They ARE older than the Egyptians!) There were so many great, interesting artifacts and mummies. (Plus, lolworthy: There was a preserved howler monkey wearing a feathered collar and a fancy feathered skirt... mummified in a position that made me think of Marilyn Monroe. I wish I could have taken a picture of it. :( I wish they'd put it after all the sad little kid mummies but, oh well... Monkey!)
→ I need a new computer. I don't want to talk about it right now. Recommend me a reasonably priced machine? I'm probably going to go Sony this time around. Thoughts?
