Internal clock?

My sleep/awake/energy timing has been really screwed up this past week. Until recently, I could sleep 14 hours a day without trouble (compared to 6 hours/night I got by on pre-pregnancy). Then Saturday evening I napped a couple hours in the evening to escape painting at the IL's and ended up staying awake until 5am reading. I kept telling myself ( Read more... )

What does a baby moving feel like?

Reassuring, I imagine, if you expected it. Freaky if you didn't. :}

"What's this *baby* doing in here???"

It's like those women you read about who don't know they're pregnant until they go into labor. One of my mom's co-workers found out she was seven months pregnant when she went for her annual gyn exam. What do you do when you get that kind of unexpected news?

That would be so mind-blowing. I used to think that people who didn't realize they were pregnant were completely insane, but I suppose if their periods were usually irregular and they were fairly overweight, it would be possible to skip right over the first trimester and go partway into the second before getting suspicious.

I was at a lunch get-together today with people I see every couple months. I'm wearing a thick sweater and no one had any clue I was pregnant. I only brought it up when they talked about all the baby showers they'd been to recently. I think it's getting rather obvious that I'm pregnant, but apparently not, at least with the right clothes.

I was getting so impatient to feel something, but what I did feel wasn't obvious at all, which was even more irritating. Since I was really looking forward to feeling movement, it was almost a letdown to be constantly second guessing what was going on.

Hmm. The first time I felt anything, it was 4 distinct taps coming from my lower abdomen. Since food has a tendency not to tap me, I was pretty certain it was the baby. Since then, I think the baby twisted around because what I feel seems directed inward, not outward. I guess it's like little pushes. I was hoping it would be more distinct, but it took a long time to tell whether things I felt were the baby or indigestion. Almost everyone I talked to felt movement between 16 and 18 weeks and described it as flutters or bubbles, but I was nearly 20 weeks before feeling anything, and I think I went straight to kicks.
