This evening, I did a gentle run wandering around town and getting as much hill in as possible[*]. Absolutely mind-splittingly cold; it's a long time since I've done a run where I was still wearing gloves by the end; t-shirt, windproof top, shorts, gloves and a woolly hat were _just_ enough to avoid hypothermia.
Very icy underfoot a lot of the time (a few bits were glorious crunch ice that makes a wonderful sound when run across).
8.8 miles in 75 mins aprox, or 8:30s miles, everything in good order.
Third run in five days; I was expecting not to find it this easy to get back into it.
[*] up and down all the bits of hill around the castle mound; the steps up the mound were precarious, but the view from the top was stunning. Getting lots of hills in before May is part of the current plan, although it's a bit of a challenge round here ...
