Compromise

So we finally reached a grand compromise last night. It was miraculous.

Chad had come over to see Hayden, and spend a little relaxing time with me, and after Rae got there (she's watching Hayden today) he told me he wanted to talk to me about something, that he'd reached what he felt was a perfect compromise.

We both agreed that he could do 4 years active duty in an Airborne unit (if he get's it) and then he could do the next 16 in the reserves or National Guard, that way we can still settle down and not be moving every 4 years. Granted, if I'm liking the military life, then we can keep going as long as I like past 4 years active duty. Or, if he hates it, he can get out.

I asked him if this means he's coming home, and he said it did, that he'd be coming to our house after he got off work tonight.

He was happier than I was... he said now he's going to get a chance at everything he ever wanted. I'm still not totally sure about everything involving the national guard or reserves, but I know that we won't be PCSing every 4 years if I don't want to. And again - this is all saying that I decide military life is NOT for me. Or hell, he could go into NG or reserves for a while, and if we want to, go back to active duty. I know there's a program of some type for that.

This makes me so happy. I was worried that the Army was going to come between our marriage and totally destroy us.

19 days left.

More later!
