Spread thin

I think a big part of my lack of posting to LJ lately has been the fact that I simply have too many places to post the random day-to-day things. My Tumblr account now gets all the random internet finds. Facebook gets my miscellaneous life updates that carry no real weight. Flickr gets a (nearly) daily snapshot of what I see. I've even started a damn Twitter account as yet another place to dump my random thoughts.

It seems rather pointless to blog about my daily life when the internet already IS my daily life.

LJ at least still lets me extrapolate and expound on things to do with just me, something that the snapshots don't allow for. At the same time, I think I've actually gotten more gun-shy about writing truly personal things here. I'm thinking perhaps I should make more use of the private post option, since I don't think I'll ever be truly comfortable sharing many things without processing them and calculating them until they're toothless and inoffensive. I simply don't want to speak fearlessly because I don't want to deal with other people's baggage attached with it. Yet there's still that persistent need for validation that the internet endlessly feeds and nurtures, making you crave an audience and prompting you to break your life down into easily-digestible short-URL links that are easy to read on a phone.

It can be a bit frustrating.
