I stood over him, breathless myself. It had been years since we last conflicted and this time I was standing toe-to-toe with him. I took in a breath before letting it escape into the air as I readied myself. I leaned over, bending my knees, to reach down and grab him by the collar. As I extended my arm, he quickly flipped over and tucked his legs up towards his chest. Our eyes met, as he glared at me, with his lips contorting to a let out a growl. His legs both shot straight up and slammed into my chest.
He was not the only one that the wall was unforgiving of.
I staggered backwards and hit the wall hard. However, no sooner than he stood, I had already kicked off the wall and towards him. My fists swung quickly, almost wildly, as he weaved to dodge them. As he went in for a shot of his own, it seemed as if my feet were working independently for a moment. I stepped backwards slightly, before spinning to the side and raising my leg high as I leaned over. As he stepped in closer, my leg came down hard and forcefully made an impression on the back of his neck.
Can you really win against yourself?
He staggered forward but somehow managed to keep from falling. I re-centered myself as I turned to face him again. Wasting no time though, I rushed towards him, and with my hands I grabbed onto him. I ran full-speed as I gripped him tightly. I could almost count the paces that I took as I felt confusion and anger surge inside of me. In one fluid motion I launched him forward and straight into the wall.
He was fully aware.
His hands shot outward as I watched his body flex with tension. He stopped himself with barely enough space for dust to get by. His head turned to the side as his eyes were glowing brightly. He stood up once again and turned to face me. At this point there was no use considering talking. Our intentions were now as clear as daylight. It took everything I had to keep from stepping back.
Amazement; Arrogance; Courage; Drive; Frustration; Stupidity?
I couldn't figure out what it was at that moment, but for some reason, I didn't move. I stood steadfast in my place and awaited the impending onslaught. He reached his arms up and brushed himself as the chains rattled from the movements. What was I thinking? Why was I letting him compose himself? I had my chance and I let up. Just like last time.
It would seem that I would have to start all over.
