I've been absolutely floored by the right wing armada today. People have made Terry Schaivo's case a personal vendetta for a "Right to live without quality of life".
I mean, If I WAS A FUCKING VEGATABLE, I WOULDNT WANNA LIVE EITHER. God forbid i'm ever in the situation where all communication functions and motor functions are lost. I mean, fuck, if my balls got cut off in an accident, I'D STILL SAY PUT ME DOWN, CAUSE MY QUALITY OF LIFE WOULD CEASE TO EXIST!!!!!
But no, President Pat robertson, Vice president Gerry Fallwell, and Of course The other right wing monsters have turned this whole issue of "a spouses right to choose" into a "peoples right to choose".
This whole thing comes down to morals. Now, What is being done to terry schaivo is, I gotta admit, pretty cruel, To a vegetable or not, starving someone is not the way to go. I mean, at least make it quick right? Not that i'm playing devil's advocate or anything, but if her doctor says "Dude, she's never coming out of this" WHY SHOULD YOU KEEP HER ALIVE?!?!?! Yea, Her eyes move, and she smiles BECAUSE HER MUSCLES TWITCH! But the right wings profess that everyone has a right to live. Regardless of quality of life. FUCK THAT.
If living means being tied to fucking machines for the rest of my life, JUST TO KEEP MY HEART BEATING, theres no point to living. Why be a burden? As mean as this sounds, terry is a burden to her husband, and I really feel sorry for that guy. Everyone is calling him an adulterer, and murderer. I know for a fact that if my mother was in the same situation, my father would make the same fucking call because honest to god it would be doing mom a favor. I sure as fuck wouldnt wanna live like that. I'd pray theres some form of afterlife because this one is fucked up enough as is.
The three most sickening things of this issue
1: Mrs. Schaivo's parents are by far the most selfish and inhumane people on the planet keeping that poor woman alive for nothing
2: The government undermining a spouse's right to "pull the plug"
3: The Right wingers calling a man who's wife IS CLINICALLY FUCKING DEAD ALREADY an adulterer and Murderer.
I just want to make this face perfectly clear, If I was EVER EVER EVER in this situatio, and I was a veggie, and never gonna come out of it, i would totally understand if my spouse found someone else ya know? but no of course not.
