The night hadn't been too bad. Al had found a thick enough canopy of trees to sleep under, in a very sandy patch of the woods. It was dry, and soft, and he'd slept hard, and deeply. When he'd woken himself he considered going to the compound for food, but decided to press on and start looking Ed along the stretch of the beach he hadn't gotten to, yet.
So it was he came upon a mostly empty stretch of sand, but up in the treeline there was a large cart. It looked inviting. He smiled, a little.
As good a place to start as any. Brushing some of the excess sand from his pants and gloves, which Al still could not bring himself to pull off, he started jogging towards it and called out.
"Good morning!" He slowed, nearing it. "Is anybody, um, home?"
