Alphonse was sitting at the train station in central when suddenly the urge to write down what had happened to him over the last few months struck. Pulling out his journal and a pen he began to write.
She told me to leave, so I did. I left, in a way it freed me, gave the reason I was looking for to search for the one that means the most to me. It’s not that I don’t care about the rest of them, Winry, Rose, Panako, and Izumi. It’s just, I know my brother is alive somewhere. Ed wouldn’t rest if he knew I were alive I know it. He’d find a way home. I decided to start my journey in Central looking through the old libraries the state alchemists used for some clue as to how the gate may be opened. Everywhere I looked I found nothing but failure, people who had tried and failed, but through each of their failures I find another piece of the puzzle. It was in the Military Archives that I found my first real lead. There was an entry in the newer logs stating that 4000 plus soldiers were sent to the border town of Liore, and that 3000 never came back. There was mention of a grand alchemy that took place there caused by some one listed only by the name “Scar”.
I traveled to Liore by train then by foot when other means of transportation were unavailable. Upon arrival I saw a strange purple light emanating from the square. It looked like the kind of light an alchemical reaction can cause. I heard screaming, and ran to the square where I saw suits of armor climbing out of a hole in the ground. I used alchemy to change the air temperatures causing a localized tornado. When the suits of armor got to close I had to resort to hand to hand combat. I used alchemy again to transfer a portion of my soul into the several of the armors, allowing me to control them. Between myself and the people and soldiers of Liore we had the situation under control readily enough.
After the battle, the people of Liore began stacking the armors nearby when all of a sudden a portal opened above the stacked armors and they started floating up into the portal. Leaping into the air I managed to get a hold of one of the legs of the armors, and would have gone through the portal if Rose hadn’t grabbed on to my leg and weighed me down. I guess she saved me, in my haste to find Ed I almost got myself killed.
As I sit here at the train station on my way back home to Risembool, I wonder, If he’s really out there or if it’s just a feeling.
No I have to believe that he’s alive, cause if not… I don’t know what I’d do.
