Dad's dead

Dad died on Monday morning. My brother and I have been dealing all the initial bureaucracy that we need to get done before the week's up. Moving his belongings to storage. That kind of stuff. In the midst of all the up-and-down emotions surrounding death ( Read more... )

My thoughts are with you. I know this is not uncomplicated in terms of the relief and grief and everything all at once. Just feel what you're feeling and take it at your own pace.

Somehow, you always seem to be just a couple of years ahead of me in everything. My life so far has been unnaturally low in deaths of loved ones, except for the year I lost all three grandparents, and that happened at a distance. I can only guess how it feels to be going through what you're experiencing (aided, of course, by your words). I hope I can handle things as well when they do happen.

I've found that it takes practice. My mom died a year and a half ago, and I was completely useless about it. But, I watched other people doing things that were both useful and gave them control over the situation, and I took that in mind this time around.

Friedrich was a barrel of laughs, and he probably knew a lot of big old German words, too. (Why do I have to keep clicking on the box to enter text? It's like its attention is wandering.)

I meant to ask, how's the sprout doing in all this?
