Tbh, when wireless networking I'd stay away from USB. Internal card for Desktop and PCMCIA card for laptop. USB can be a little dodgy due to the processor diverting clock time if you running a high CPU usage program and you can lose your connection. Something like This for laptop and

Putting the cards in won't be a problem.
Hopefully the disc/instructions will enable me to get all the right IP addresses in the right places and everything finding each other.
