By the time Arabelle got back to her home reality, it was time for another mission.
One that required her and Lunar to make a run to the city for more supplies and fuel for the generator.
A simple, and easy task that could be accomplished on the lightly guarded outskirts, right?
It, apparently, was a bad day to do it.
Of all the days they needed to raid for supplies and fuel, this was the worst possible timing. Zero was running patrol.
The resulting firefight was something that Arabelle and Lunar were starting to lose. Outgunned, out numbered, and overpowered.
Of course, that was until a new factor came into the situation. A flash of dark colored light, Zero goes sailing backwards into a skid of his boots against the pavement.
The new individual was a tall fellow, a ring hovering over his body, "Damn." He swore, "Still too soon.."
"What th'.." Arabelle blinked. Zero growled and made a dash for the ringed man.
Who held up his hand, and vanished with Arabelle. Lunar made a sound in surprise, and took off running. One of the few things Zero couldn't mimic was his ground speed.
--
They were in an open field, New York visible in the distance. Arabelle flailed and fell on her face, "WHAT the hell did you just fuckin' do? YOU MADE ME DITCH MY TEAM MATE." Arabelle's tempter was getting the better of her, and she fired a plume of flame at him. Only to.. ..miss? "..What?"
"I did that because I need your help, Arabelle Kintotech." He answered, from behind her. Arabelle whipped around to face him but didn't fire again.
Confusion forced its way through the pure anger in Arabelle's mind. She still glared, "My help? You were the fuckin' bastard pullin' off the zwee fighting stunts with Zero. And how th' fuckin' hell do you know me?"
"That was not my intention, I assure you. My name is Saturn, and I am a time traveler. I have been sent to this time period in an attempt to find the deviation."
This brought her pause. "..So LilBlue was right." She takes a less aggressive stance, shoulders slumping and wings draping downwards a little. "You're about five years too late, dude. Epsilon already rules New York, and most of th' eastern US."
"A fact of which I am also aware. While that is a major deviation, that is not the first proverbial domino to fall. And I am afraid I'm not entirely sure when that is." A beat. "Do you know anything about a Sentinel known as a Quint?"
Arabelle blinked, folding her arms, confused, "..A sentinel?"
"Yes. A green android that is about my height. The massive chronal disturbance allowed it to slip past us and alter history in a single event."
Arabelle snapped her fingers, "Wait. Lumine and Kaiser said somethin' about that. The day Professor Cain died. They were attacked by some sorta green robot that came out of nowhere. It tried to kill Kaiser, but Cain got in th' way..."
"..That makes sense."
"Wait. That's when you need to be? Get goin', then, bucko, fix this and make this five years of hell go the fuck away."
Saturn shook his head, "I'm afraid it's not that simple. I need your assistance to stop this android before it reaches the professor. I'm afraid that now, alone, I won't be able to stop it."
"..What'll happen to me?"
"Like myself, you'll step outside of time, and most likely continue to exist, with a different dimensional anchor."
Arabelle hesitated for a moment, "..Fuck, let's do it. Let's fix this fuckin' bullshit."
Saturn, for his part, smiled a little.
