Origins - Sometime before Arabelle has joined the team.
"We didn't just get beat Boss, we got stomped." The tall blond was leaning on one of the medical beds, "This guy.."
"He knew our limitations and our weaknesses, like he'd been studying us for years." This came from the slightly shorter fellow in blue, "What did he say his name was, Zero?"
"Kaiser." Zero replied.
"I see." Professor Cain brought his fingertips together. "I've been reviewing the tapes from where some of the incident was recorded on the news. Xavier is correct. This Kaiser individual knew your capabilities extremely well, your limitations, your weaknesses in your fighting style."
"How?" Xavier glanced at Cain, "I mean, we've had guys figure us out before, but not on the first encounter, not like this."
Cain closed his eyes, and sighed, "I fear I have a feeling I know who this Kaiser is. I believe that they were once one of us."
"..One of us?" Zero blinked, "How...?"
"Wait, Kaiser's a powerful psychic, that means that..." Xavier was cut off.
"That means that this Kaiser individual is most likely Hecate Daemon." Cain opened his eyes, "I don't know what's happened in the last ten years, but I fear the worst. Hecate thusly has become the worst foe we could possibly face, with her knowledge of your capabilities and so forth." He sighed.
"I thought she went home because her parents had become ill." Xavier mused aloud.
"That was the case, yes, but apparently something's changed, I don't know what, however." Cain sighed again.
"So, Boss, what do we do?" Zero asked
"As of now, we cannot attack Kaiser directly due to the extensive knowledge Hecate possesses. However, if we recruit new members for the team, ones she doesn't know, we might stand a chance." Cain glanced at Zero, "Which is something I need you to do, Zero."
Zero held up his hands defensively, "Whoa, whoa. You know how that always works with me, Boss, remember the last one?"
"I'm well aware, however, this one I fear requires your special touch. I will explain." Cain clicked a button, and one of the screens changed, showing an individual with gunmetal gray arms. Female, blonde, green-eyed... "This is Arabelle Kintotech, daughter of Doctor Julian Kintotech. Arabelle has an X-gene who's growth has been delayed for reasons unknown. Alia tells me she's a mutant, but I don't know why her power hasn't manifested yet."
"What's with her arms?"
"Arabelle is a cyborg, due to an accident some time ago."
"..Ah."
"What about me?" Xavier asked, "I usually go with Zero on the recruitment missions..."
"Not in this case, Xavier. I want you to go to Heaven's Tower."
This caused both Xavier and Zero to pause.
"...Professor, with all due respect, if Hecate's really this Kaiser guy, that's pretty much sending me into the freaking lion's den."
"I am aware of this, Xavier, however I know Hecate, as well. She won't attempt anything as her civilian persona. I want you to go and talk with her, see if you can find out what's changed in these past ten years."
"I'm not sure how we'll that'll help, but I'll see what I can do. You want me to take anyone with?"
"It's probably far better if you go alone, Xavier. I don't want her threatened into retalating directly onto the School." The Professor pauses, "Speaking of which, whichever one of you sees Gemini first, tell her to change the security codes again."
Zero made a small noise, "tch. ...Do you think Epsilon got her?"
"I doubt that, even when she was with us, Hecate denied Epsilon's teachings to the point of showing him she was one of his largest threats, even at a young age."
"Even then, Epsilon would've shown himself and bragged about it. He's probably still on the Moon." Xavier added.
"True."
The Professor spoke again, "Now, should either one of you or your teams encounter Kaiser, you must proceed with extreme caution. Kaiser knows your capabilities right down to your weaknesses. We have to be careful, now. Hecate is our deadliest and most powerful enemy."
"..Yeah, about that." Zero spoke up again, "She didn't kill us. She just incapacitated us."
"Perhaps because she sees a use for you two yet. As horrible as it sounds, we're fortunate in the fact that Hecate rarely does anything unnecessary, such as killing."
"So how's Doc Kintotech's kid supposed to help us?"
"Arabelle is an incredibly chaotic individual, an opposite to Hecate's order. This is a bit of a longshot, but hopefully Arabelle's chaotic nature will become a balance to Hecate's order. At this moment, I cannot predict aside from hoping for the best."
