Infinity Blade

I've been aware of the Infinity Blade series for a long time. When I first heard about it I admittedly didn't look too much into it as it was the early days of mobile games and I had no device that could support it even if I could buy it at the time. I remember the short stint of time that both it and fruit ninja were on giant touch screens in places like Amazing Jake's or Dave & Busters.

It wasn't until several years later that I dug into the concept art for the game and found I really liked the designs for the game but I still didn't really.. dig into the game itself. I also didn't read too much of the wiki, I think I kinda hoped that maybe the collection would be available for something other than mobile that I could experience the game but.. that never came to be. As of today, the games are not available for purchase, only those that own the games and have them installed are able to play them at this time.

More recently I dug back into it again, reading more explicitly into a character because I wanted to know if I would like her or not (having good women characters/fighters that I jive with can sway how much I'm interested in a piece of media) Then I started reading about the lore, while still trying to skim over potential spoilers, then I discovered the books and found out the writer was generally regarded as a good writer for fantasy.

I didn't actually watch/read the series until a few days ago and I'm reeling over how long I slept on this.

Tireless guardians, duty-bound drive, the ramifications of extended life and unnatural healing, biological weapons, with a future tech slant to it all is just. So So, up my alley. And if you're reading this list of tropes and wondering how it is this game with knights and serfs could hold these things well you might as well dig into the series yourself :U

I am incredibly grateful for people that have compiled 'movies' of the game's notable interactions and cut scenes. I wouldn't have been able to experience the game in any capacity without them.

Much like the games, the Ebooks seem to have vanished from all the usual places of purchase, only the audio books remain available (which I listened to using my free trial of audible to get both audio books for free and nothing else. I was on a mission, okay?)

I have managed to scrounge up some.. less official means of reading the books:
https://freeonlineread.net/book-reader/infinity-blade-awakening-2
Awakening takes place after the first game

https://freeonlineread.net/book-reader/infinity-blade-redemption
Redemption takes place after the second game

The books stitch up events in-between the games as well as introduce characters that show up in the third game that the games themselves do not bother to to introduce or explain. (at least as far as I can tell) So you'll either need to read the books or use the wiki to fill in the gaps where the game did not explicitly state them. The books are genuinely good, interesting and entertaining. There are a few discrepancies, such as Isa possessing an accent in the book that she lacks in the games and a few minor details where the books stitch into the beginning of the next game, but those are relatively negligible.

And in case you were wondering: Yes the two player characters get face reveals in the last game, no one else does.
