Unrelated, from a recent interview with Marco Hietala of Nightwish and Tarot, speaking of Tarja Turunen:
"At the time when she had to go, things were in a bad kind of shape - and she really had to go. Even though we had been friends for some time, it was obvious she didn’t have the necessary commitment that we guys felt she would have to have in order to keep the band going and do some stuff. I don’t know if it was her problem - but I tend to see it as that way that she probably listened too much to her husband as a manager. If you have a husband as a manager - you gotta trust your husband - and she really wasn’t able to listen or hear our side of things at the time. There was just too much trouble."
Yes... precisely the impression I was getting all along. If ever you watched the documentary on the End of an Era DVD, even if you don't speak Finnish, I think it comes across pretty clearly who's pulling the strings.
