New Bedroom Furniture, New Toilet, New Baby and an Old, Stupid Back

we were back home for about an hour and i went upstairs to change into warmer clothes because it is 59 degrees out there and my back went out. Not in the kind of 'out' where i can't get up but it is uncomfortable to walk around and i get some pains walking upstairs. oy voy--welcome to the 40's!

on jay's first week of vacation we really only spent a full day and half at home before piling in the car to the UP. On Tuesday morning our bedroom set was delivered. We now have a bed, big dresser and an armoire that are new, new, new. It looks like we are sleeping in a hotel. Later in the day we headed out to Ishpeming. My dad took Harry out fishing and later in the day we get a call from Harry to meet him and grandpa at the emergency room because grandpa got a hook in his hand. They were out on Silver Lake and it took about 45 minutes for them to get back. My mom said he had to go to the hospital last year for the same reason..... On Wednesday we picked up Ellyn in Marquette and Thursday we headed back so she could spend some time at home before heading back down to NOLA.

On Friday night she babysat and jay and i went and saw The Kids are All Right--good, not great. On Saturday we left early for MPLS and we went with all the kids to Walker. We walked around the sculpture garden and then decided to go in and walk around. We only had an hour so it was a quick walk through. Then we hopped in the car and dropped Ellyn off at the airport. Since we were right by the Mall of America we decided to get Harry some school clothes. We don't have an Urban Outfitter around so did most of our shopping there. Jay took F/C to the amusement rides in the middle.

After the mall we headed out to The Blue Nile. It was nice but the kids didn't dig it--well, except harry. Cheapo Records in Uptown was open until 10pm so we stopped there before we headed back. I got some jazz and a couple other cd's. all in all one of our best jaunts to the cities yet!

On Tuesday the plumber came and installed our new toilet and took the ancient one away. I have had to listen to my husband bemoan the death of this toilet. It was old, cracked, permanently stained, and was a 4 to 5 gallon tank. I guess I should be happy my husband gets attached to old, cracked and stained things....

Later we headed out to the cabin we had rented on Leech Lake. It was a small cabin and only about 20% of the other cabins were rented so it was nicely empty. The first night we got there it stormed all night and last night it stormed all night. On Wednesday we swam and I got a fishing license and a pole and the boys have poles so we did a little fishing. I did catch something. A crayfish the size of my fist. No fish. It was cool this morning but i swam some anyway. Contrary to its name Leech Lake is actually a great lake.

Today we are back in Duluth. Jay goes back to work on Monday and Harry is back in school on the 30th! The last little moments of summer are racing by quickly. Next summer at this time I will have another baby. We are thinking of not finding out the gender of this one....ellyn wants another girl to even out things and the twins want a little brother. Una is too young to know much of anything and Harry doesn't care one way or the other.
