HAY SUP GUYS

Had semester break a month ago, didn’t do much during that time BUT I did go skiing :)

3 day trip to Thredbo with a group of 8, uni friends and high school friends so it was a strange mix of people. For the first day we mostly stayed on Friday Flats, just to get reacquainted with skiing and for the beginners to learn. But by the last day everyone was doing a green run, I tried a blue run but stacked most of the way :P I don’t think any of us did a black run, maybe Zog did, but then he’s been snowboarding since he was 11.

Tell you what though, it was THE BEST snow season I’ve ever seen in Australia. The snow was soft and thick, for the three days we were there no artificial snow was needed. We saw the snow machines working on the Supertrail track on Sunday arvo when we were taking the chairlift back down to the carpark, so it looks like we got the best days. First day was a bit overcast but it was snowing so there was lots of new fluffy snow which was eKsellent. Second day the sun came out a bit but it was still freezing. Sunday was the best in relation to the weather, nice and sunny, and the snow still good enough to ski on. Aimee said when she went on the blue runs there were no icy patches, which is rare.

And I have a sort-of funny story!

For some it was their first time skiing, and one of these people included Ken. Now unlike all the other sensibles Ken refused to take skiing lessons and wanted to go straight up to Meritts, and not stay on Friday Flats like all the other beginners. Because he can’t parallel ski he has to do snowplough all the way down the hill, and because he’s never skied before he didn’t know what to do with his poles, and so just kinda held them out retardedly. Wish we’d gotten a vid of him skiing. Anyway on the third day my skiing instructor was taking a bunch of us up to Meritts to practice our parallel skiing. When we got up there he was teaching us how to parallel ski properly, as he said “Theres a difference between doing a green run, and skiing a green run”. Right at that minute Ken goes flying past us totally out of control, we watch him make it down to the hill and fall over and my instructor says “Now that guy? He’s DOING a green run”. Hilarity ensues XD

Joyce and Catherine chillin, literally XD

And yes that is a giant snow car we are standing in front of.

Apparently a lot of people, including Australians, don’t actually know that Australia has a snow season, with real snow. Huh. Well it sure is interesting to see snow with gum trees, and the sunlight over here is really glary so the snow is blinding white. Also saw random people from high school who were there on a different ski trip. Accommodation was a bit shoddy, but if you pay peanuts you get monkeys I guess.

Oh and new phone peeps, because my other one got broke by a dumb boy who decided throwing it on the floor was a good idea.

Man bloody APEC this weekend, transport will be shot to shit. Any other weekend would be fine, but I have a busy schedule this weekend *has a cry*  Wake up 5:30am Saturday morning to go to work, then in the arvo I’m off to Acer Arena to go see Powderfinger and Silverchair in the Across The Great Divide Tour, and then after that its over to the Sports Centre to Transmission, which finishes at 7am on Sunday. I’m so dead for Sunday D:

Also, all the tributes to Steve Irwin I’ve seen over the past few days makes me feel happy, it shows that he’s still well loved by many even after his death. He was a great bloke, I was so shocked when I heard he died :(

Note to self: Must remember to finish fvii carebears or I be killed. With a rock. Or something.
