As you may have gathered from my drunk live-tweeting, tonight at The Alley, Rod Dibble was joined at the piano by an itinerant trumpet player.
As I was biking home, I felt a strong pull to head to The Alley instead of heading for my bed and so I ordered two beers for myself and staked out my usual spot by the door. The improvised trumpet solos on "Your Cheatin' Heart" and "Route 66" were proof that when you hear the siren call in your head, most of the time? It's looking out for you.
There was at least some talk around the piano of "Daughter of Darkness" but the song never materialized. If it had, I'd still be there now instead of typing this at a quarter to last call on a school night.
