If a year were to be measured by the number of firsts, this year could be a record breaker...
Sunday was the day I promised myself I had to face eventually but fortunately did not dread all throughout last week. If that were the case, I’d have been terribly distracted from work. Hehehe! Don’t blame me; the last time I actually rode anything was - something like, more than ten years ago? And it wasn’t even a roller coaster. Go figure.
Anyway, at the risk of sounding like I had such a deprived childhood (which of course was never, ever the case), I’m proud to say that I finally set foot on EK. Thank God - and at one point I thought I’d never make it alive. Haha! Okay, fine, that was an exaggeration… At any rate, I will admit that I’m such a chicken when it comes to these things.
It was a nice, sunny Sunday morning and we were all there at the entrance as soon as they began selling walk-in tickets and letting everyone into the park. From there, the next two hours were definitely a shock to my system that had remained dormant for as long as I can remember.
Anyway, I shrugged off my last-minute reservations and second thoughts little by little. The plan - as I would be dragged into against my will - had been to go from the milder to the more challenging rides, and to ride at least everything in sight before lunch and before the sun became unbearable.
It took some amount of extraordinary willpower and symptoms of hyperventilation before I began to enjoy, but enjoy I did. It was like warming up to an acquired taste, except in my case it came a bit delayed. It left me wide awake all throughout the afternoon and early evening when everyone else were tired and spent. Well, I was always a late bloomer. Haha.
