Just got home from a canning party. I thought I'd give canning a try this summer, and now I'm a little bit addicted. Food preservation has become my friend. So far I've made two batches of dilly beans, a batch of tomatillo salsa, and a batch of pickles. Tonight Beth and Andrea taught me how to can tomatoes, and as soon as I have enough ripe ones, I'll be doing bunches of those (preferable *with* Beth and Andrea, as that was a lot more fun than solo canning). I also got an idea about how to make freezable sauce, using my slow cooker, with all those cherry tomatoes I have floating around the fridge. Odd that spending so much time in the kitchen is making me so happy. Tomorrow I need to get up early enough to make more bunches of pesto before the basil in my fridge turns on me.
Also, I'm really looking forward to camping this weekend--I haven't been camping yet this summer.
Now, I need to aim myself towards bed. I'm extremely tired.
