I'm toying with the idea of taking SPD cases again.  Maybe just appellate cases?  I don't know.  I could office-share with Gina, but that could get spendy (the rent is super-cheap--it'd be like $150 a month, but I'd also have to pay for phone, and internet, and other overhead).  I could work out of my home and avoid rent and such, but I'm not sure ( Read more... )

Thanks! I'm just getting really frustrated with the job search... For example...I applied for a job a few weeks ago that I spent a *ton* of time working on--this was the 8-essay-question application. I specifically emailed them before applying, because the job announcement said a social work degree was required (but nothing about social work licensing). They told me that a social work degree was preferred, but they would consider me without it. Then I got a rejection letter that said "the job announcement stated a social work degree was required." Argh!

Colorado just started a Dues Assistance Program and there I was knocking on their door. Maybe y'all have something similar?

Not that I can find. Ugh.

I was bitching to my sister the other day--I feel that everyone I send a resume to (mostly non-profits) think that I'm slumming, because if I have a law degree, I must have been making *so* much money. They have *no* *idea* what a solo/small firm practitioner actually makes! It sounds like things have been tough on a number of fronts...hope it picks up.

That always seems to be the misconception. That just because we have law degrees we're rolling in cash. I wish!
