Siren's Plea Progress - November

Nov 02, 2014 16:22

It's a bit embarrassing to admit that the demo of Siren's Plea is not close to being finished at all. Considering it's already November, I have my doubts that the team will finish it by December. I still haven't gotten over my writer's block so the writers that are helping me are stuck until I provide them a storyline/outline that needs to be written and edited.

The prologue is done for sure so that's out of the way. The problem with writing the rest of the story is the fact that I'm trying not to bombard people with too much information (of the game's world) and making it short enough for a demo. The romance routes for each romanceable characters have not been written yet (though partly but not enough to be included in the demo). If this continues, I will have to release the demo without revealing how the routes will be picked/introduced.

Programming the game is proving to be difficult as well but can't be started until the writing is done. However, I find myself writing more whenever I'm coding which...makes no sense at all.

I might consider putting up donations so that I can hire a background artist. Free backgrounds are proving to be greatly limited and I am having a hard time finding a rose garden background. The image shown is temporary since I'm writing the scenes and would like to get a feel of the atmosphere of the story. I will not be using it since I can't find the artist who made it and thus can't ask permission if I can use it for the game. I can't draw backgrounds to save my life so I'm in serious need of a background artist.

I will have to close commissions so I can focus on the game. Let me know if people will be willing to donate. I know I said I would prefer not accepting donations for the game since I will be using mostly free assets (music and some backgrounds) but...

At any rate, I'd appreciate knowing what people think so feel free to shoot me some questions. Thank you!
