Has anyone verified if the shots that prevented the helicopters from landing were fired AT the helicopters, or were the shots fired INTO THE AIR to attract attention? I've caught myself wondering this for several days now--if lost in the woods/side of a mountain/etc. and a gun was handy, wouldn't it make sense to attempt to make loud noises with it when there was a chance they might attract the attention of a potential rescuer?
