Llama Drama

Oct 04, 2009 10:13

While Ireland was voting Yes to the Lisbon treaty, a far more dramatic development was taking place in Dublin. A group of llamas and goats made a break from a travelling circus and caused an unexpected diversion on one of the city's motorways.

When I first heard about the llamas on the loose, I thought it was a publicity stunt for a new Roddy Doyle book. We're well used to seeing the occasional horse careering down the road, but this is altogether more exotic.

The animals were finally rounded up, but the City Council demanded money from the circus owner before they could be returned. In the latest twist, the llamas and goats have been stolen, and the owner is denying that he was involved in their disappearance.

Where's Doctor Doolittle when you need him?
