My building is making unusual, loud, water-running through-pipes sounds every minute or so. Also, my bedroom radiator's steam valve (? - the thing in the center of the front of the radiator, with a tiny hole through which steam can escape to regulate the pressure or whatever) has a steady stream of slightly pressurized lukewarm water escaping from it instead, and the steam pipes are vaguely warm rather than hot. I put my huge mop bucket by the radiator to catch the water and half an inch has accumulated in the last 15 or 20 minutes. I'm fascinated/disturbed by this, and concerned that maybe this is happening because the boiler's pilot light went out and we're all going to die. (I've opened all my windows a crack just in case.)
We don't have a super, my landlord never answers his phone and I will not let anyone who works for my landlord into my apartment if I'm not here. And I absolutely must be in Elmhurst doing outreach by 10 tomorrow morning. This can't end well.
